If you're looking for a full warranty claim, yes, you have to send in the whole rod for inspection. If you're just using the expeditor program, you now just send in the section with the rod series...
As long as they credit the refund as soon as they receive the broken rod, I don't see anything wrong with it.
Same two thoughts I had. Glad it wasn't during rush hour, and all too reminiscent of the I35W Minneapolis bridge collapse, again thankfully not during rush hour as well.

Got a couple of these as well and they are nice. Much easier to organize and thumb through than the ziploc bags. However, you don't have the flexibility of stuffing a bag in a corner of the storage...

Never had an issue on my NRX. Moving to a NRX+ this year (not by choice) so I hope it remains a non-issue.
Always had issues on my St. Croix Legend Tournament. Love the rod, but hate the guides....
