My 02 TR21 does the same thing and to combat that I turn the latch on the battery compartment to leave it cracked between uses. It took care of the gas smell.

Exactly! I’m not replacing until it breaks and with a kid playing ball I don’t get to fish much right now. When it breaks I’ll get spot lock.

Had 16.09 with 4 fish Saturday; happened in less than 30 minutes. The bite died as fast as it happened and then got stupid windy. I wish I could’ve gotten that 5th fish to be at the 20# mark.
