Take off split ring or not

I purchased some Mustad Fastach clips in order to be able to change out cranks and topwaters quickly. My question is, am I ok to leave the split ring attached to the bait and then attach the fastach clip to the split ring, or is that going to mess with the action of the bait?

Pull the split ring, I've never been able to get them to run right with both.

I leave the split ring on with my Fastach shallow cranks. DD and Jerkbaits,I take them off. Just my way of doing them BUT I do switch baits often till they tell me what them want.

I've slowly been overcoming my laziness and removing the split rings.

I remove the split ring when using Fastach clips.

For those that remove the split ring, do you do that because it negatively impacts the action of the bait or are you just more concerned with another possible point of failure?

I remove it because my fat fingers and bad eyes find it difficult to twist the split ring out of the Fastach.
