NoAl Chapter sign up here to fish Pickwick on November 17th
It looks like Pickwick has been voted as the location for our November tournament. I still think we ought to plan on using McFarland Park in Florence as our launch site. As we discussed in the voting thread, there are several other pretty good sized tournaments going out of McFarland Park that day. It's a pretty big place, though, that can handle several hundred boats pretty easily so I really don't think it'll be that big of a deal.
I would suggest, though, that we use the smallest of the three ramps which is located on the east side of the harbor since it's the least used and a lot of people don't even know it's there. The easiest way to get there is to turn on Clayborn Liles Drive, which is the road just before the main entrance, right beside Big Daddy's Bar-B-Que. You'll see the ball field on the right and a ramp just past that. Continue straight ahead and turn into the parking lot at the open gate. Here's a MapQuest link if anyone's interested: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/m...c=Bay
"First light" ought to be right at 6:00 so I suggest that we start registration between 5:15 and 5:30. We normally weigh in at 3:00 but with that many boats vying for dock space, we might want to consider moving it up 30 minutes or so. Everybody ponder it and we'll discuss it further during registration.

We better check and see what time there weigh-in is. With it getting light earlier, they may not be weighing in at 3:00.

Re: NoAl Chapter sign up here to fish Pickwick on November 17th (1niceStratos)
guys I am thinking about fishing with you this time. But I will caution, the Fishers of Men trail will be 150 boats. Even at the smaller ramp, it is going to be crowded. I know the Pickwick boys (Jason) LOL will say not a problem. I will call the FOM pres and get a hard number of boats just so you have a idea.

Re: NoAl Chapter sign up here to fish Pickwick on November 17th (Kerry201pro)
Kerry,
I hate Pickwick. I like fishing it at night during the summer, but the last time I was on it this time of year was when we fished it two years ago in December.
If we put in and take out before they launch and weigh-in, it will not be a problem. I've fished 200 boat tournaments out of the McFarland, so we can maneuver our 5 or 6 boats out of the harbor. We will meet at the ramp, register and when we put in we can go. No problems. The only problem will be if we weigh-in when they do. And, that will only be a problem with trying to get through the traffic to the ramp we are using.

Re: NoAl Chapter sign up here to fish Pickwick on November 17th (1niceStratos)
they will run at least 3 flights 30 min apart for weigh in. I will check with Al Odom. I havent ruled out fishing the wildcard but may opt to just fish with you guys since it has been forever since I have fished the BBC. Will know more later this week.

He snuck his signup in via IM so as to not scare off the rest of us since it's looking like a pretty good turnout. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

We don't have a banner or anything but you'll see my truck (white GMC Sierra with a BBC sticker in the back window) at the entrance to the parking lot of the ramp we'll be using.

The FOM weigh in will be by flight so I suspect they'll pretty much have a steady stream of boats from 2:00 until 3:15 or so. The weigh in for the tournament sponsored by Gray's Tackle will be at 3:00.

You know that's a thought Avery. I can make us a 3x5 banner pretty cheaply (not by tomorrow though) if you want since I make decals and stuff.

So are we going to try to weigh in right in the middle of them, or have our weigh in at like 2:00 or even 1:45?

We'll discuss it in the morning and make a decision then. Since the FOM guys are going to have staggered weigh in times, I'm not sure it'll make a lot of difference since they'll be on the other side of the harbor.

That's cool. Just keep in mind that everyone will not come in at their assigned times. If they don't have fish, most will be coming out of the water with the first group.
Duane Harper is a good friend of mine and another C&O team guy. He asked about fishing Pickwick. I told him we would be having our BBC tournament tomorrow so he may come down and stay at the house tonight and fish with us tomorrow. I stayed with him last Saturday in Nashville for the benefit tournament we had for Ray Eaton. He's a member in good standing with the BBC so that won't be an issue with him. Right now he's not 100% sure, but I'm betting he's going to be there. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
