Re: flywheel is seized (basstracker2468)
Soak it with PB blaster then soak it some more, then soak it somemore. I use an impact wrench with a harmonic balancer puller.
Re: flywheel is seized (ChampioNman)
thats exactly what im useing, the thing is, i can put more pressure but will i break something?? thanks Championman for the quick reply
Re: flywheel is seized (basstracker2468)
Back off of it for awhile and let the PB Blaster do its stuff. Run the bolt back down. It will pop.
Re: flywheel is seized (ChampioNman)
When I have had to pull them in the past, I soak them as ChampioNman suggested and then I put pressure on it with the Harmonic Balancer Puller and give it a couple smacks with a rubber mallet... It will eventually pop loose... Good Luck!
Re: flywheel is seized (bassboatman)
im soaking it right now with pb, while im setting at my desk in the AC . its the waiting game now
thanks bassboatman http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/popcorn.gif
Re: flywheel is seized (ChampioNman)
is there a limit on the amount force that i can apply on this? or do i keep going until something gives
Re: flywheel is seized (basstracker2468)
I have had to put a lot of force on the ones I have done... The rubber mallet will help too... Eventually it will POP loose... Just keep nice even pressure on it... May even help to leave the pressure on it overnight... while it has the penetrating spray on it....
Re: flywheel is seized (bassboatman)
when you say force , how much are you talking about , a three foot cheater bar of force? thanks cus i still cant get it off http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif
Re: flywheel is seized (basstracker2468)
Try the cheater bar, torque spec on the nut is 140 ft lbs. You may need to go to a dealer and have them hit it with shop air.
Re: flywheel is seized (ChampioNman)
I think he has the nut off... I think he is talking about harmonic balancer puller torque... You can torque on it till something breaks... lol... I would keep hitting it with penetrating lube and keep hitting it with the rubber mallet... If it were me I would try turning it a 1/2 a turn at a time and then smack it in 3 or 4 different spots with the rubber mallet then another half turn and a few more smacks with the mallet... It will eventually break free.... Just remember to hit it all around the flywheel with the rubber mallet and don't be afraid to hit it too hard... I don't think the rubber mallet is going to break a steel flywheel....
Re: flywheel is seized (bassboatman)
if you really want something better than PB then go find some Kroil. By far the best out there.
let it soak overnight with Kroil then tighten up you puller and wack the end with a leather or rubber mallet.
Kroil is amazing stuff and has been around forever. Just not at your local Auto Zone
Re: flywheel is seized (jglenn)
I second the kroil, if ya can find it. Just keep pressure on it and don't get antsy!!! Pressure and vibration works.....Champ was talking about air pressure on the puller.

Tell me you are using a regular flywheel puller with three bolts going into the flywheel hub, and not a puller that grabs the outside edge of the flywheel as a gear puller does.
Be very careful if you hammer the center pressing bolt as the whole force of the shock is absorbed by the bottom crankshaft ball bearing, and can flatten or deform the balls and the race.
Re: flywheel is seized (SEAHORSE)
Iwas assuming he wasusint the three bolt puller.
Re: flywheel is seized (bassboatman)
yes sir i have the nut off and im talking about the puller screw, man its driving me crazy. and im im hit it with my impact and still no dice the washers on the puller are even starting to give?????? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif
Re: flywheel is seized (SEAHORSE)
ya, im using a regular flywheel puller with three bolts going into the flywheel hub , man i made sure the head markings of the bolts are of high strength (six point)
Re: flywheel is seized (basstracker2468)
hay guys i just ordered some kroil, from midway auto supply ill see how that works out.
Re: flywheel is seized (Bassmeister)
Re: flywheel is seized (basstracker2468)
im also going out in morning to buy a new 1/2 drive air impact wrench called the Earthquake so i can get more torque
Re: flywheel is seized (basstracker2468)
it came loose i tap it with the rubber hammer and there it went http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
thanks guys shit its been a long road. happy fishin, ya r the best http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
Re: flywheel is seized (basstracker2468)
Re: flywheel is seized (Bassmeister)
Glad you got it off... The rubber mallet trick usually helps... Good luck with the rest of your repairs....
Re: flywheel is seized (bassboatman)
My trick to get those stubborn ones is to get the puller on, get the bolts pulled tight, and hit the puller center right on top , not hard , but firm with a metal hammer. The impact right at the end forces the vibration to the end of the crank while the flywheel is stationary. Usually 1 pop is all it takes. I Have the same engine with the U.F.I ignition. Make sure the power pack is mounted properly and does not touch the flywheel!
