Restoring my 95 488vs, and can't tell what the switches on the dash control due to the degradation of the embossed writing. Please help!!
If anyone could snap a photo of a dash, it would save a whole lot of frustration.

Not sure if the 95 400 series is the same as my 97 but here it is. From left fuel, horn, bilge, bilge, interior light, navigation lights.Attachment 264588
That's awesome!
Thanks. That gives me a place to start.
That brings up another question.
It looks like you need to switch between fuel tanks. Does it not feed from both???
And why 2bilge switches?
Not sure what you mean about " Does it not feed from both?" The fuel switch shown is for the fuel gauge on the dash. One fuel gauge needs a switch because there's two tanks. For the fuel supply to the motor, the switch between the seats controls the feed to the motor.
Bilge switches...one for manual, one for auto.
My 97 only feeds from 1 tank at a time. Dual bilge pumps to me are a must. 1 is auto but both can be manual. Backup bilge or get water out fast if you take one over the nose.
It's all starting to make sense now. Thanks for the help.
Not sure I remember a fuel tank switch between the seats. Ill have to look. But like everything else, cant see any labels.
Here is a picture of the switch...Attachment 264674
Once again ....Thank you.I do remember it now.
I'm new to the forum game, so as soon as I can figure out how to get pics posted, I may post progress shots.

This is how I found her
That's 10 years of mulch.
Carpet came out easier than the dirt.
Seats and carpet will be new, and installed in about 3 weeks when I get it back from floor replacement.
The Merc fired right up!
Disintegrated impeller, and faulty poppet valve were only thing on engine that needed replacement.
Needed all new tired. Brakes frozen up, trailer lights not yet working,, but no rodents, and gel is in surprising good shape. Must have been the protective coating of dirt
Well, I don't know how I did it, but can't seem to do it again.
That's a shame somebody let that happen...but it is worth saving.
cant wait to see pics that surely was neglected!
What did you use to re-label the switches?
Nothing yet. Just happy to know what they actually control. LOL
I'm open to suggestions.
Looking for trolling motor as well. I think the one that's on it was probably swamped. It's only a 36 inch shaft comma and the controller basically fell apart when I move the dial and tried the switches
Back to the dash switches.....There is a second bilge switch on the panel. It has power to it, but no extra bilge to be found. What is the purpose of this extra bilge switch??
Amazing job!!!
On my 97 488vs they ran that extra bilge swith to a graph.
Very nice job in the restoration of that beauty!
looks great, glad you saved another Ranger :thumb up2:
GREAT JOB!
Good job on the restore. Im restoring a 1996 Ranger 461vs.
I'm also restoring 95 488vs and trying to figure out what these switches are on both sides of the console. Can you help?
This is what I have...Attachment 447743
