First Cobra 216 by Anaconda "Pictures!"
Well after a long wait, here it is! Progress! This is an all white top per the customers order. The gel has been sprayed and the skin chop coat is on. There is more rolling to be done. I don't know about you guys but I'm excited! Good work Ken! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif

Cool! http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif Keep them coming. The process to creating a hull is interesting, especially a Cobra!
Re: First Cobra 216 by Anaconda "Pictures!" (Psychologist)
Very cool.
Just out of curiousity, where is the new Cobra by Anaconda company located? Still in the Mountain Home area?

I'm sorry..... I just can't continue to look at these pics and not say anything.
#1..... Why didn't you roll the flange down flat ??
#2..... Why didn't you pay extra special attention to make sure and roll out ALL OF THE AIR where the rubrail is going to be attached to the boat ?? (that's the area just below the flange).
I mean, you can always add a little extra rag to that area all around the cap in the final lay-up when you are ragging over the wood. It'll make for a tighter fit to the hull when you go to put them both together. I just always found it to be a LOT easier to roll it out properly during the skin coat.
Sorry...... just my 2 cents worth. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif Looks good Ken. These pics are better than no pics...... I guess. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

I thought I made it obvious he was still rolling at this point. My fault. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif I showed these to several reputable boat builders and they were all positive about his work. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Re: First Cobra 216 by Anaconda "Pictures!" (Psychologist)
Given that this is obviously a "work in progress" and given that Ken's totally new at this and doesn't have the experience that everyone at Viper/Cobra had, I expect he's doing pretty well. I would expect that the very first Cobra built wasn't the same quality as more recent ones were.
Give Ken time and give him some constructive criticism and I'm betting he'll be building some awesome Cobras (by Anaconda). http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif
Re: First Cobra 216 by Anaconda "Pictures!" (Al from Canada)
I was just curious, what kind of boat building experience does Ken have? Is this the first time he has built boats? Are these pics taken in the new Cobra factory? I wish him all of the best but I think it looks long a long hard road to take. I hope everything works out for the best becouse these are truly awsome boats. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif
Re: First Cobra 216 by Anaconda "Pictures!" (fishinggman)
He has some of the best in the business guiding his efforts as well as many years of experience of his own. He is not at liberty to disclose the names of those assisting him due to conflict of interest in regard to other lines of boats, but I will say I am confident Ken will build a quality boat. I would not be buying one of my own if I didn't think he could. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
I agree it looks like a long road, but I know that positive support helps. So lets continue to help him as best we can and support the boats we love. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif

Oh, I thought when you said there is more rolling to be done that you meant this is just the beginning of the lay-up process. I can't tell by the pics if the resin is dried or not. I was just thinking HOLY CRAP he has a lot of grinding to do !!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif
Ken, if you need to know where the wood and balsawood needs to go on the cap just give me a hollar and I'll help you out. But then again it sounds like you have enough expertise boat builders guiding you and you are probably already past that stage by now. GOOD LUCK !!!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif

Re: First Cobra 216 by Anaconda "Pictures!" (MigAz)
Looks good to me. But I hope he is going to build a wood free boat.. But all in all atleast he is progressing. I would like to see pics of the hull now. Lets get the pics of this boat in steps. Keep us up to date. I know we would all like to see the boats progress as you get it done. Im really interested to see how it comes out with no carpet!!!
Re: First Cobra 216 by Anaconda "Pictures!" (CobraBassBuster)
no wood and no balsa core..
Re: First Cobra 216 by Anaconda "Pictures!" (mercury_pro)
So the boat isn't going to have any rod locker lids ?? Or engine box lid ?? Or livewell lids ?? Are you going to be using some sort of composite material in place of the wood and balsa ?? I'm just wondering what you are going to screw the hinges for the lids into ?? And the gas fill cap ?? And the bow and stern lights ?? Hmmmm..... What are you going to use to support the front deck ??
Oh nevermind.... I'm just asking too many questions http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif Maybe you don't want anybody to know how you are building the boats. Might be giving up some sort of "trade secrets" or something EH?? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/stirthepot.gif
Re: First Cobra 216 by Anaconda "Pictures!" (Cleveland)
balsa is old style..its still wood using this. also using balsa coring you cant use a thru hull transducer...iam useing composite materials..and alumin deck lids etc.. enough said... and part monocock alumin transom .. ok i said enough .. probly too much
Re: First Cobra 216 by Anaconda "Pictures!" (mercury_pro)
I wasn't talking about balsa or wood in the hull. Geeeeesh.....I built boats for 9 years ya know. I was talking about what are you going to use to screw the lid hinges into..... now I know..... a composite material. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
