Brent Chapman Wins!!!

Brent Wins BASS Central Open. Wins spot to next years Classic.

This is a big deal since next year's classic is on Grand Lake and is so close to home for him.

The last 6 months I have been working him pretty hard. I've been going to his house two to three days a week and putting him through some grueling workouts. At times I didn't know if he was going to puke or punch me.

He is a great guy and we have become good friends in those 6 months. He has a huge passion for hunting and fishing.

This is going to give him some great confidence in this years Classic on the Red River in Shreveport. I'll be there to watch.

Let me tell you guys I fished that open and it was the most brutal tournament I have ever fished in my life. And for it to come down to a fish off was really something. Chris the tournament director and announcer said that was a first in BASS history to the best of his knowledge they have never had a tie for first place on the last day and requiring a fish off. The weather was really really tough. So was the fishing if you could not tell by looking at the leaderboard. But it is behing me and Table Rock is next on the list. Congrats to Brent on an Aweosome fish to win the event on the last day. His family was there suporting him so that was really neat to see.

There was a tie for first place on the last day of the 2009 Central Open held at the Atchafalaya Basin in which there was a fish-off between local Mark Smith and Edwin Evers. Evers won the event which was also a tough event for most of the field. It was certainly my worst event, which i guess is why I remember it so well. Why Chris wouldn't remember that I'm not sure. He did lose his wife that year. Maybe he missed the event. Since I never crossed the stage, I don't remember if he was there. Anyway, congrats to Brent! It was a hard fought event.
