Re: Power Poles in Tenn (alex98)
The only time I could see it usefull is in the fall when you are in the very back of the bays. If you ever decide to fish Old Hickory I could see it being usefull their from time to time.
I dont own one. I think there pretty neat and dont hate on the people that have them. But from what I heard you really need 2 of them to stay completely stationary.
Re: Power Poles in Tenn (mkmsports41)
Mike, Thanks for the reply. As we both know as much as i can afford them and the wife said i can get them i still would rather put the money towards something like a family trip.
Re: Power Poles in Tenn (mkmsports41)
The people that came up with the idea of the Power pole are genius and I hope they enjoy their success. I have fished for years without one and will continue. I think some people add them to the boat to keep up with the Jones. I see no need for a power pole. It is a great idea but what is a anchor used for then. I have fished the flats in Florida all the way to the Great Lakes and never needed one. We--All of us are taking fishing to the extreme. It is a wonder with all the tech. and all of the high priced boats that any of us old farts were able to catch a fish.

I'm not saying it's necessary. But, it is a valuable tool, that i've found to be very important in my fishing arsenal. If you fish ledges all year, no it's probably not the best investment, maybe side imaging would be. There have been many situations that the power pole has helped me put fish in the boat, and without it, I wouldn't have. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Re: Power Poles in Tenn (haftafish22)
Power poles are just like a depthfinder/GPS.......you don't NEED them, but once you have one and see how well it works and how much you CAN use it, you will understand
Re: Power Poles in Tenn (alex98)
I have two power poles. They are not a necessity, more of a convenience..a very expensive convenience. But most fishing equipment i.e. fish finders, 30 rods in a boat and a hundred pounds of tackle are all really just a convenience. It's your boat, if you want'em...get'em. If you don't don't...don't. You'll get a variety of opinions on here just like every other topic here. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Re: Power Poles in Tenn (SSNCHIEF)
I have seen times in mid april of each year where a powerpole could be very beneficial, espcially in clear water like dale hollow or center hill.

YES
Re: Power Poles in Tenn (alex98)
I would use them a lot I think. Last year my partner and i started noting everytime we thought we could use one in a situation just to kinda see how many times you could use it. We saw a lot of scenarios it would be handy. With thay said we still made it fine without it

+1, unless you fish Lake Guntersville in Alabama. Then I would say , yes.
Re: Power Poles in Tenn (alex98)
I have Talons.
This is near Buchanan resort, sitting in 7.5' water fishing a lay down. You'll notice the two boats in the background. They were doing a poker run that day and it was one boat after another. Those Talons held me in place. There's a lot of shallow water on Ky lake that you can use them..

This pic is fishing around some submerged islands on Rend Lake.

Whether it is Talons or Power Poles. You will be surprised at how many times you will use them.

Re: Power Poles in Tenn (adamat)
Thank you.
Back seat was one I rigged for my wife to add an umbrella to. Left off the Phoenix seat that day.
Boat has 25 hrs on it.
Re: Power Poles in Tenn (GRANDPAOF7)
I tend to agree with you but also disagree. It is up to you to decide if they would be a benefit to enabling you to catch more fish and to enjoy your overall boating experience more. To pick a bone with you I could say that I have cut my grass with some hand clippers and then an old fashioned push mower without the engine before I wanted to keep up with the Jones and bought a motor powered lawn mower and or riding mower, these are not necessary but sure make life much more enjoyable. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
Re: Power Poles in Tenn (nikldac)
Thank you so much for your input. Could you please tell me were you got the cover for your engine as i have been looking all over. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

I do this also. Most of the year I fish deeper than a Power Pole will reach, but I would still like to have one.
Re: Power Poles in Tenn (alex98)
Joseph.... Sent you an IM with the info you wanted on the motor cover.
