Wow only 76 boats!
that dropped big time! I hear guys say how the bite is tough out there right now. And the weather is going to flip going into Friday/Saturday.
I was told by some of the guys in the tournament that people were dropping out and they were desperate for boaters.
Im sorry but man I have a lot of disrespect for any boater who signs up, practices and then says naaa im not gonna fish cause its a tough bite. They should be banned from any and all future tournaments. If you enter, you fish it, they have co anglers traveling based upon a boat being in the event, obviously mechanical issues are a different issue, but dropping out cause they couldn't locate fish is pathetic. Dang I hope FLW has a no refund policy after official practice begins.
What happens to the poor co-angler left without a boat? They paid $400 to fish from the back of the boat. Someone laying down $1000.00 to fish an event then backing out sounds crazy to me too.
I would be soooo pissed if I traveled, took time off work and then showed up to a tournament to find out that there's no boat for me. I would be asking for the name of the boater that dropped out. I hope the boaters don't get refunds. Anyone know if they will???
I can't understand why they would throw $1000 away like that. I get that there are additional expenses that they won't have to spend (on hotel and gas), but that’s a big chunk of cash to just leave behind. I think if a coangler got a confirmation notice for the tournament, and then is turned away because a boater/pro drops out, then that coangler should get a portion of the boaters entry fee. As it stands, it looks like all of that would stay with FLW. It would be good if FLW used at least some of that money to find a way to compensate the co's that have to go home without making a cast. I’m not saying they should hand over the whole amount, but a few hundred bucks would be a good start.
never saw so many two fish bags weighed . i was out there yesterday and a couple hours into my day i was thinking im glad im not fishing the everstart . after watching the weigh in i wouldnt have embarrassed myself as bad as i thought . i wonder where the leaders are fishing
not gonna get any easier!
yea only 16 pounds to lead on day one!!! Thats crazy, going to be a tough next couple of days
Wow....only 16.15 is leading! I was up there checking out the scene today and there were alot of sub-10 pound bags! Guys were saying how tough it is out there today. I think some guys will make an adjustment and get on the bite, and some guys will return to where their fish were and find them gone. Gonna have to watch this one!
Also got to meet Smith64a and fishingjim from BBC today....Nice meeting ya'll!:beers:
If 16 led today then 12 might lead tomarrow.
I think your right,12lbs tomorrow will be at the top. The ride to the Sass is going to be a adventure tomorrow. it s blowing tonight with heavy thundershowers. I live about ten minutes from the Sass but i dont think it is going to muddy up. Good luck guys someone will catch them.
I knew it was going to be tough... But even the local boys were bringing in 2 fish or small bags :ohwell: I thought for sure some of the Paycheck/ Premiere tournament guys would have some decent bags. Tomorrow with that cold front and wind should make it even more interesting.
Hey John,
It was good meeting you and Uncle Jesse today also! Always good to put a face with a name.
Andy
I would hate to be out there today.
I think i'll have to fish this next year if it comes back.
The Everstart will be fishing James River, Potomac and Champlain in 2014
well :sweating:...All those guys are safe then! Too bad:laugh:
I love fishing the Potomac. I just don't get down there enough. I live 15-20 mins from the Flats, just too easy to fish right here. But we always go down the Potomac for a week in the spring....Always a highlight of our fishing year.
Well, I fished my first everstart. At age 67 I put this tournament on my bucket list. I set a goal to finish in the top 20. Normally they pay 20 places. I accomplished my goal but missed a check by 1.92 lbs. They did not pay 20 places in this tournament due to a smaller field. I would like to have day one over again. Tournament fishing is all about making the right decisions. I made a bad decision on thursday that cost me dearly. Friday I made a good decision and came in with a good bag considering the conditions. I do not regret fishing this tournament at all. I had a great time and enjoyed every minute of it. FLW is a very well run company. Everyone working that tournament were the best people you would ever want to meet. If FLW ever comes back to the upper bay I will be fishing.
Was out for a few days this week and went to the weigh in on thursday.
My three days were not all that fishing wise. Was as tough for me as it seemed to be for a lot of guys I saw on stage.
Tuesday and wednesday, I talked with a handful of guys who'd been out practicing and they were all scratching their heads.
I managed a at least a limit both of those days, but was scratching my head a bit too.
Fishing on thursday, i caught a 5.7 anchor, and my best five would have gone between 16 and 17lbs.
Was not the norm of the week, and that definitely wouldn't have happened if I was in the tournament. lol.
The highlight of my time down there, of course, was meeting RiverratMd and Uncle Jesse.
:thumb up2:
N2bassn, great job with the day 2 comeback and a strong finish.
Would have loved to see you or Booker take home the bacon in this one.
n2bassn - So Close! You know the ol' sayin "If I only knew then, what I know now" It's bitten me many a time too! Good finish, thanks for posting about the experience:beers:
Glad I came up Thursday and was able to put a handshake on some fine Upper Bay Fishermen! A lot of class acts on the upper bay. I gotta club tourny tomorrow, so hopefully I snag a couple myself!
Congrats to all the top 10 of the Everstart 2013 tourny, both anglers & co-anglers.
Congratulations to all the guys who went out and fished the three day tournament. I was really glad i had off thursday and had the chance to get to the weigh in and meet a few of you guys. Hope you guys can make the jam , by the way fyi i am gonna do my best to make sure riverrat snags ones smaller than mine tomorrow:stirthepot:
Ain't gonna happen hillbilly. See you at the weigh-in....I'll be the one bringing my fish to the scales in a wheelbarrel.
Your gonna need a wheelbarrel to haul all that sh*t ya talkin . Ill see ya there with the winning stringer in hand!:beers:
Anyone wanna buy a boat got a 117 ranger for sale
May be good to post a separate thread...You may get more looks. Also, the BBC boats for sale section is great for selling boats. But no matter how, good luck with your sale.:thumb up2:
Thanks I have 3 months to move it or upgrade it to a new boat
