Question for ya'll..

I was talking to my banker guy yesterday getting everything worked out on the 'new' boat and he asked me where the boat was located and if it was at a dealership. I told him no, it's not at a dealership, just a guy has it and it's located in the Baton Rouge area. He then said, "Ok...You know he's gonna have to come here to sign the title over, right?" I told him, "No, the guy is not driving up here...I'm buying the boat and I'm driving down there this weekend and getting it." But, he kept insisting that he has to come here. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif

Ok, I'm assuming the reasoning behind this is he wants the title in hand when he gives over the money for the boat (i guess so they won't get 'scammed' or anything).... Surely there's an 'easy' way to remedy this and I can explain this to him, right?

We've got a notary waiting on us to come and sign everything over on Saturday...Surely he can talk to them and have them fax a copy as soon as it's done and then certified mail the original to him, since he apparently doesn't want me bringing it back to him.

You can have the notory call your bank and assure them its a legit deal. No way on earth are you going to get the seller to come your way and sign anything.

you can get the notary where you buy the boat to sign over power of attorney of the seller( on the boat, motor, and trailer) to the banker and he can sign the sellers part. thats how i did mine in NC

Banks are real friendly to your face until you ask for money and then their attitude changes. If they don't trust you then should you really trust them?

A contact from your notary should smooth them over. Good luck!

I bought mine from a guy in Baton Rouge too, I got a Counter loan that way the bank never had the title, I had it from day one. Paid a little more interest but the boat was mine from day one. Just how i did it.

You need another bank! I use a credit union in town and even though mine was 15 min down the road, be signed it and I brought it. It helps to know your banker. Screw a big bank

Its a small credit union...I've financed 2 boats and 2 trucks with them over the last 7 years. Never had any kind of problem with them. (Same guy too) I think this can be remedied with a couple phone calls. Going to his office tomorrow.

tim they want to look at the boat to verify condition, verify numbers etc. its not uncommon in todays lending. i know of a few folks who have had the issue when buyin from an individual out of town. might be able to have a boat inspection done here before and that may satisfy themd do an appraisal for th. they can verify everything ane bank.

If he don't budge tim I would make a couple phone calls and I bet someone else will make it happen for you business.

Hull looks black but Im guessing they wouldnt put green seats in a black boat. Either way, no matter what color it is, it ought to roll!!!
