Looks good to me http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif What did you use for the head?
What head?

True, that probably doesn't qualify as a head http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif Let me rephrase, what did you bind the arms together with?
Look great Mike! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Looks like a small piece of copper tubing, probably soldered, then heat shrink tubing added.

Very close... The SS wire is wrapped with 22 gauge copper wire, soldered and shrink tube around. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif Thinner than copper tube that wont fit over either of the looped ends. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
The solder actually looks good... Thinking about eliminating the shrink tube. You could shove a tube bait over the head before you tied it on.. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif But I dont want that end of the bait getting bit. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif
Since the SS wires can't be soldered is it the fact that the wire loops stacked side by side what keeps the wires from rotating allowing the spread to change, or is the copper wire around them tight enough to keep the SS wires from turning?
I wrap the wire super tight, and the solder weeps into the cracks stopping the wire from twisting.. I only use 2 wires bent in 1/2...
Thats cool I didn't think about using just two wires. Also where they are next to each other at the line tie would also help them or prevent them from turning. Thank for sharing so that we can all build our own instead of paying $25 - $30 dollars for them.
You could also revome the bill and hooks from a cheap crankait, drill a hole all the way through the entire length of it big enough to slip the rig in from the rear of the crankbait then epoxy in place. This would give it a fancy head on it like the store bought units.
I personally dont want any attraction to the head as it has no hooks. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif I dont like blade hits on spinnerbaits. Smallies do that alot here, especially at night and you miss all the fish that bite where there is no hook. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Thats an interesting idea about the heads, never thought about it from that point of view before http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Here are some w/o the shrink tube. I think I like these best... What do you guys like better?
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...amarig2002.jpg
i like the ones without the shrink wrap better.
I like them without. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
what did you use for your wire mike?what gauge is it?
I like it best without the shrinkwrap, IMO http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif Either way, really cool idea

41K SS wire for the rig, 22 gauge copper craft wire wrapped and soldered. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Thanks guys. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
R u the one selling the pre looped wire?
Mike,
I made a similar rig for a walleye guy using a piece of brass tubing as a collar, with the only other difference being I put the swivel on before closing the loop...one less connection to fail. Nice work! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

I think this answer my question? So you dont bend and wrap the loops that the swivel goes on? How long is the wire if you buy it pre-looped?
Mine were 16 in... I might try 18 inch on the next batch. The loops and wraps eat up some length.
I was told you could solder the stainless wire with the rite stuff , but havent had any luck.
Were both ends of that 16" wire looped?

I like without the shrink tube Mike. Both look great http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

Yes, per my request... I like his loops better than others as they are smaller.
If you know someone with a Tig machine you could pop it with the tig and solder the stainless to itself.
I like doing this with flux and my heat gun on high. No need for a welder. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
So a weight or head isn't nessasary for an a-rig to swim right? I can't imagine why it would be has anyone compared the difference?
They swim great w/o any weighted head.. But I can add any size worm weight infront and control depth even better. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif You could put the worm weight inside a tube as well. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif
Good idea bud. Thanks for the reply.
Hey Mike,
Are u selling those Rigs?
MysticAngler http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
You can solder stainless with silver solder and flux buy at welding supply stores
Were are you getting the SS wire from?

I guess you didnt read page one.... Here is where I buy my wires. I just ordered a bunch more in 18 and 20 inch.
Mike, I'm assuming you can use a slightly softer rod with that set up? What does the thing weight with smaller weighted heads?
