Have a 2014 BassCat Puma with a new ProXS 250 last year, LVS 34 this year, Ultrex 3 years ago (last boat I was ever gonna buy). Only fish a couple small, local tourneys each year plus once a week or so fun fishing, and here I am thinking about how much I can get for mine and what a lightly used 2022-23 Jaguar with a 300 will cost me out of pocket. At almost 64 years old, someone tell me, “Yes, you are perfectly sane. A new boat is exactly what you need.”
Can’t take it with you. If you have the money buy the boat. You earned it. Enjoy life as far as we know this isn’t a dress rehearsal
At 64 that’s exactly what you need! Enjoy life when you have your health and the means.
At our age, get what you want while you can still use it. I’ve decided I don’t want any regrets.
Get a new boat, if you have the means “and a truck to pull it”. Enjoy
Pulled up to one of my customers houses one day and he had himself a new corvette. He was so proud of it. Said he saved his whole life to buy one. Fast forward 3 months later and I stop by to service his house again and the corvette was gone and a Cadillac was parked in the garage. I asked what happened to the vet, his exact word to me that I’ll never forget, “ Wanted that vette my whole life , but waited too long. I got tired of trying to get in and out of it!”

I see no problem with it. Basil Bacon is still fishing at 89 so it's almost necessary to make the move.
I am 9 years older than you. My advice is to determine where you are and make sure you have enough money to carry you for the rest of your life. Most people’s ability to earn peaks in their sixties. If the answer is yes that you have the extra money and can live comfortably for the rest of your life buy it. If not be happy with what you have and realize your needs are more important than your wants.

True words. The weirdest and least logical saying I’ve heard come out of an avid fisherman’s mouth is “I retired this year and bought my last boat ever.” I’m no millionaire by any means, but in the 15 years I’ve been retired I’ve bought 4 new boats. Had to quit fishing tournaments a few years ago for health problems, and not entirely sure I’ll be able to fish by myself much longer, but my heirs won’t need the amount it would cost me to trade up one more time. So if I feel like it would make me happier, even for a short while, I might buy another one, or two!Quote:

Get what you want if you have the means, don't let your age decide. I'm 73 and just got a new Lund 2075 Pro V Bass and a new diesel Silverado LTZ to pull it. Hopefully I get some good years in it before I have to buy a spot for my dirt nap.

I have wanted a Bullet my for many years--By the way I am 71+ years old.Long story short -I saw one and the gentleman I bought it from happens to be a member of BBC. BASSCATLITLEDAVE. Drove over 400 miles one way to get it. Took one of my sons with me to pick it up. Great trip--Dave his wife and employees great people and could not wait to get it back home. This is all I am going to say ----Every-time I look at it--Every-time I put it in the water--And most of all---Every-time I hear that Pro Max run--I just shake my head-say damn and SMILE!!!
I've got a 22 Jaquar, same motor almost same electronics. I usually purchase a new boat every year but I haven't ridden in another boat that compares to it. I really hope the Op purchases this one.Quote:

I had the bug bad last year at the same age. As much as I want a new sparkle sled I simply cannot justify the price of admission. If you can swing it comfortably then enjoy the Jag.
If you can afford it with having to sacrifice too much in your other things you need and like then by all means!! Myself I can’t do it and live the free from debt life I enjoy. Wish I could but what I have still gets me fishing. I am happy just to have one that works.
Get the Jag. The deck size will be better as you age

You can't take with you, but you certainly have to have enough to get there on. I don't know about you, but I plan on being around for a long time yet. :praying:

I got my "last" new boat it was delivered Nov 16. I turned 64 Nov 21. Went from puma ftd to puma sts. I loved the ftd but now at 66 the wide deck sure is nice. I would have to fall 3 times before I went over the gunnel
I duck hunt with an accountant and he has told me he’s lost track of the number of multi millionaires crying in his office because a spouse died wanting to do something they thought they couldn’t afford and they didn’t need to worry about it.
If you got the money do it IMHO. The thought of a new Vexus VXs 20 blows my skirt up and I could go pay cash for one:laugh:
I don’t buy it because I don’t want the upkeep issues and I’d rather use the money to check off some bucket list trips than chase ditch pickles on the same couple lakes I always fish.
Go get it…life is short, live it with NO regrets.
