Another DQ for no info on elite series so why no DQ on the opens guy?

BASS is all over the place. Somehow,which I didn't think was even possible,they've managed to pass MLF/BPT with the drama for the second year in a row. Congratulations BASS

Why didn't Herren just tell them he didn't gain a advantage like the guy who was only fined in the Opens.

They need to scrap the rulebook and start from scratch with only those they can regulate 24/7.

They have never stopped with info. They need to polygraph everyone.

There’s so many ways to get around the no info rule and still not break the rules its crazy.

He would probably never have gained enough spots to best the $5500 winnings anyway so he got the cash and didn't have to waste the gas and everything else that comes with another day fishing.. He actually came out good on the deal.. :laugh:

With Ike’s injury he’s probably not too upset about not getting to fish

He got dq’d because we were talking on Tuesday about how he was spending all his time practicing down south. That’s where he spent his practice and all the tournament. I wasn’t thinking and made a comment hopefully this one doesn’t get one north in deep creek like a tournament that my buddy had fished the previous weekend just as a general comment talking fish. He never went there to look and went right back and put in at Astor the next day. I have fished opens and understand off limits periods but we talk fishing daily and I just wasn’t thinking when I said it. Polygraph examiner asked if he had received any information and told them I had said it on accident but never went in that direction(70 miles the exact opposite is where he went in practice and the tournament). That flagged it as soliciting for information and dq’d him. The rule states soliciting while trying to gain a competitive advantage so I don’t understand how mistakenly being told something and not pursuing the information or using it for any gains can fall into a disqualification.

This why BASS needs to get rid of this so called "NO Info Rule". It is a stupid out of date rule. This was set in the days of guys hiring guides to learn the lakes they were to fish. It no longer belongs with the modern technology of satelitte imagery and on-line mapping/navigation maps.

I disagree. Without the No Info rule, the tournament boils down to who has the best information network, rather than being a fishing contest. Without it, hiring guides, paying for waypoints, and having buddies pre-fish during off limits would be the norm. The No Info rule isn't perfect and it's enforcement may not be as uniform as we'd like, but the situation is far better with it than without it.

When the Classic was on Conroe, I saw many who were qualified for the Classic out running around the lake with the local sticks. Without the no info rule it came down to who had the best network.

Soliciting means requesting. I highly doubt Matt Herren was soliciting, or even wanted to hear that. If that's all that happened that's BS. Rules, enforcement of the rules, and assessing penalties have gotten out of hand.

If this is the reason then Matt got screwed and I would fight it, especially after they let the opens guy keep his money and spot. None of their rulings seem to follow the same guidelines and that would drive me crazy if I was fishing for them.

what did the open guy do? WHo was it?

How do you enforce a email, txt, phone call, dinner, hotel, etc conversation. You are relying upon guilty conscience or someone being pissed off to enforce.

Yes some guys are going to do what rule says, but some aren’t.

If this is indeed how it went down then it is BS. No different than if some yahoo tells you something at the gas pump.

How can anyone form an honest opinion without all the facts? I hate speculation all it does is stir the pot.

Its how it works and they all know the rules.....I have a few friends on the Elite side and I always have to be very careful when we talk. They all know it and if I even seem like I'm crossing the line they stop me immediately. Does it suck ABSLOUTLY...and do I agree Matt got screwed from a outsider perspective yes...but it is a rule.
