Picked up a 2015 Crestliner VT 19 and wondering what and where is the best place to store our anchor, chain and rope? I do carry a danforth anchor setup. I am thinking some soft of padded zipper bag may be the best but looking for options. It will end up on one of the 3 rod lockers as we have all the floatables under the seat.
I put mine on a gel filled life jacket in one of the rod lockers. Helps so it doesn’t bounce around and the pins on the side won’t hit the inside of the locker. The padded bags are nice too, just couldnt justify the price the the limited amount I fish out of my boat.

Haven't used one since spot lock came out.
I just use the Ultrex also which is why I haven’t bought one. But I like to be prepared and since I’m not worried about speed and have plenty of storage it would be good to have one.

Anchor bag and tucked in a storage compartment. Fishing the rivers near dams, I look at it as a safety item. Spotlock not gonna do any good if I lose all power for some reason.

Is an an anchor required by law in NY? I’m in NC,I’ve never carried anchors or a paddle.

Honestly, since I have a SC and fish solo 99% of the time, I use it more to help balance weight than anything, keeping it in the rear port passenger compartment. But I fish SJR often, so it may come in handy one day, you never know.
Fishing in a lake at home.
Fishing in a river it is in a 3 gallon bucket at the ready (15lb river anchor and 200 feet of rope)
Everything goes wrong on a lake you drift toward shore, if it all dies in a river you want a stupid simple way to stop before finding a lock/dam/deadly shit.

In Mass, it's the law t carry one and I've used my anchor a few times. I carry my anchor and rope in a heavy duty Tupperware container (just the bottom piece) in back compartment. It doesn't move around and doesn't scratch anything and really doesn't take up much room.

Stays in a locker with the rope/chain on one of those extension cord reels. I use mine, when the kids, wife, or myself want to swim I just toss it out so we can enjoy the water and not have to worry about the boat or go look for the right type of shoreline to beach the boat.
Boat gets swamped or live well fitting breaks and you will not have power to anything. Carry an anchor its cheap insurance.
I have one that I keep in an older Cabela's dry-bag. I only put it in the boat when fish'n a tournament in a state where it is required or any of the Great Lakes and connecting waterways, where it is also required. I keep the whistle, flare kit, and all other Coast Guard required equipment in the same dry bag, so that it is all jn one place. I just throw the whole bag into my off-side rod box before travelling to a tournament in a region where all of that stuff is required. I was fish'n an FOM Regional tournament on St. Claire a few years ago and several of the guys who were staying at the host hotel were checked by the Coast Guard during our official practice days and I recall that there were some crazy fines attached to the tickets that they were issued.
