typically, though it isn't anything formal, the southern club fishes below I-20. when we split several years back ( i have been fishing since 2005 with the bbc although not as much as i'd like to), the thought process was the northern club would typically fish above I-20 due to the proximity (most of the members there live above birmingham) and the southern club would typically fish between I-20 and I-85 (most of the members live in Clanton or Montgomery) which is really the Middle AL club, but there just aren't that many members that fish with us below I-85 to have a southern club.
personally, i would love for the southern al club to fish millers ferry, yates, harding, west point or even make a trip over to columbiana below the eufaula dam or seminole but that is typically further than most folks are willing to drive. the primary lakes that are going to be fished are going to be jordon, mitchell, lay, al river (various ramps), martin and eufaula (which i am very grateful for as it is only an hour and 15 minutes for me but further for the rest of the guys) The rest are 1.5- 2.5 hours depending on where we go. eufaula typically has the lowest turnout of the year unless the Florida boys come to play because only a few are willing to drive that far.
i am up for going to the northern lakes every once in a while, but on Labor Day weekend, about 2.5 hours is a far as i am willing to drive to fish and then get back to grill for family that are coming in.
just my thoughts, no offense meant towards anyone.
