Looking to trade my 03 tandem axle trailer for a single axle swing away tongue

I have to store my boat in my garage during the winter months and I need a swing away tongue and would prefer a single axle for the added maneuverability. I have a 2003 tandem axle trailer that came with my ZX225 with hardly any miles on it. I leave my boat up on a lift all summer, so I just use the trailer twice a year, otherwise it sits in my backyard. Anyone interested? You would have to make the trip to Minnesota to swap, but I would simply swap trailers, so if you tow allot, this could be a great deal for you getting a more expensive tandem axle trailer....reply to this thread or email me at skeeterzx225@gmail.com

I forgot my camera, pics will have to wait until next weekend...The trailer is in immaculate condition and also has disc brakes and mag wheels. Actually, I think it has every option except the swing away tongue....

Any ZX200 owners out there who want to upgrade to a tandem axle trailer?

Does your tandem have a swing away tongue? If not, you can have one installed. As far as maneuverability, just remove one set of tires.

The model trailer I have cannot be modified...

I've built several trailers and I'm sure it could be modified by a competent fabricator. I just thought my previous suggestion might be a viable option for you. A single axle for the ZX225 might be a rare find.

You know, back in the day, I had a medium-heavy boat on a single axle trailer. I would never do that again. I now have a tandem and IMHO that is the only way to go. Just my 2CW. You might consider having the trailer mod'ed like a dilly tip with the retractable thong (sp). extendable/retractable Used extensively here in Hawaii and works good.

PSM207, I think the tongue can be add it would not make sense on that trailer cause it would only make it longer and defeat the purpose.

This is what my trailer tongue looks like, no modifications would work, I simply need a swing away tongue....

ZX200's are sold with Single Axle trailers and a ZX225 fits fine on them due to the boats being close in size & weight...

I wouldn't add to it, but rather cut it back and build a new nose for it. Simple, but then again I have the required equipment.

I bought a 2000 model ZX225 with Tandem trailer. I drove it up to Arkansas and dropped it off at the manufacturer (TI trailer? near Mountain Home, Ark) while I was on vacation in Branson.

They modified the trailer and added a swing-away tongue. They did a great job on the trailer. I had it modified 3 years ago and I haven't had a moment's problem. It saves you approx 3 ft of space. I believe that the cost was around $800.

Not sure if they can modify your trailer but it's not that much different than mine. I'd give them a call and ask if you haven't done this yet.

This is the type of trailer he has. Now it probably can be done but seems to be alot more work to it than the "average" regular trailer.

PSM, how would that happen?? Would you cut the "triangle" piece out and extend from there? Also what about the brake cylinder?? Just wondering. Of course it wouldn't help me out, as you can see.

yeah, I'm not cool with the idea of doing a major modification like that because it would probably turn off anyone interested when it comes time to sell my boat.

I would remove the triangle, bring the outer tubes together to the middle, then install the pivot assembly.

Plasma Cutter, MIG Welder and some experience. Would look almost factory.

don't have a single axle trailer but would be eager to buy yours if the price is right.

hehe, I still need something for my boat.... =)
