Greg vinson

Just watched the final day of bass master classic and seen where Greg Vinson was crying when he lost and poche was trying to talk to him. I don't know about everyone else but I was raised where you don't cry you just hold your head high and go after it again and congratulate the one who did win. Now don't get me wrong I would still be upset if I lost the bass master classic but I'm not going to cry about it. Nothing wrong with a man showing emotion. He put his heart in it and it was a class move by Poche to comfort him

I'm not gonna say what I would do as its only the biggest tournament in bass fishing and I doubt I'll make the cut. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif I can't tell you how many times as a kid on the lake I grew up on I would imagine myself on day 3 of the classic with only a few minutes to fish before I had to run back to check in. I think it would be hard on me.....but I honestly don't know what I would do, and I know you aren't knocking Vinson about what he did.....but I don't see anything wrong with it.

I cry when I stump my toe lord knows what I would do if I just lost the classic.

I agree with you on pouche but not crying over losing! A grown man showing emotion over losing is childish to me. Just my opinion. Dont have a problem with showing emotion but not over losing a fishing tournament.

I thought it really said something that Poche was trying to console him. He did not win either but handled it differently.

I thought it was fine, did not bother me at all. Think about it this way would you cry if you just lost out on a million dollars worth of prizes and sponsorships, i might.

If you put everything you had into something and it was your professional lifes goal to acheive it and you failed by a thin margin, one fish, i can see where one may let go with some tears. you see it in pro sports all the time, and college. no shame in it. if someone thinks its unmanly they probably have never had anything in life worth putting everything they had into.

Well said and everyone handles things differently,there is no right ot wrong answer.Swindle cried when he got dq'd,ike got mad and broke a running light and tossed it etc,everyone is different.I learned a long time ago that real men do cry.

Well, I think Poche was losing it on day one and shed a tear or two as he stood before that crowd trying to speak. I'm pretty sure that I too would be quite emoitional to be standing on that stage, win or lose.

I think that we have to remember what it takes for a professional angler to make it at this level. For most of us, fishing is a great passion and a great love that each of us takes on different levels. These fisherman, whether Elite or FLW or any other pro series, are doing this as a means to try and make a living. Taking their passion, that each of us has for the sport, and trying to take it to a whole different level. To succedd at the very pinnacle of the sport and to be that close or that successful, I imagine at times can tear your heart out for the good and the bad.

Don't quote me on this but didn't they say that he just had a child. You never know what else he has going on in his life. I think it was more on the lines of just how much he wanted to win and how he put it all on the line to win this thing for him and his family. I definitely wouldn't knock him for being emotional. I even have a new found respect for the man and will be routing him on during the Elites this year. Along with Poche... stand up dude himself! Just my .02

+1. I'm sure there have been others. First time I ever see the cameras follow the 2nd place guy behind stage. It's normally always the winner they show, as it should be.

Yes on day one he almost did lose it while trying to speak on stage...Zona said he didn't even realize he was in the lead, and I don't think Greg Vinson was crying because he lost the Classic more so the moment...you also have to realize that his first child had been born earlier in the month, and that he had just seen his family at the ramp for the first time since whenever he left for practice. Im sure it was a very roller coaster time for him, on top of being on the stage and finishing very well in the Classic...i'da boo hoo'd too I believe...not much but shed a tear at least...

Got to disagree with you on this one. It's not childish at all. It shows me that he is a real man who put everything he had into winning bass fishing's greatest prize and came up short. If someone wins it and crys, is that childish too?

I have a different question about Greg Vinson.....not trying to hi-jack this thread...but Why was it every time they showed him catching a fish it took him what seemed like for ever to land it....he would run the fish around the boat like 3 times before he hauled it in? I don't expect him to pull an Aaron Martens but I would think he would want to get that fish in the boat as quickly as possible??

We think Men are suppose to be tough guys and never cry. I did not have a problem with it. The older I get the more emotions I show.. You never know what is going on in someones life..
I also think when you are married and have kids you will have more emotions because of all that you have been through

I'll disagree with you. Many football, basketball and baseball players have cried on national tv after losing their world championships. This was their world championship. He fell short after all the sacrifices he made for a year to get there, I'd be pretty emotional too.

No problem, looks like Greg is doing a little soul searching, he just took in all the emotion and pressure of the whole week and it just hit him all at once. Been there done that!
