2007 Savannah River Reports

Jay-just to set the record strait....Spring picked this place, you know what would have happened if i took one of the others! i did bring my 4wheeler, and i have bears in my yard...i'm waiting for the fall season to stab one with the bow. and i'm on the acushnet now, we do some very interesting port calls( read hunting and fishing)

richard- glad you made it to DC. i hope your HHGs made it in better shape than mine! they dropped the toolbox off the truck, thank god i was in the artic circle, i might be in jail. spring has been putting the house together as well...i hope barbie is calmer about it than spring is! we have been doing a lot of salmon fishing still catching some kings but mostly pinks and silvers right now.

Caught lots of small fish yesterday in tidewater and it was a fun day if you like catching small fish. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif I caught at least 11 fish before 10am but only 4 keepers the whole day. Bent my trolling motor shaft and broke a spinnerbait rod. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/crying.gif Billy however,,managed to catch some small ones early and ran upriver to find a 6 pound kicker to win with around 9 lbs. Sorry bout your shaft Glenn. I hope it is covered under warranty! Like Glenn said I managed 5 keepers. No chance to cull. My 5 went a measly 9-12. Saw this in the lounge,,pretty funny.

It is so hot that,,
The birds have to use pot holders to pull worms out of the ground.

Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard boiled eggs.

The cows are giving evaporated milk.

The trees are whistling for the dogs.

A sad Texan once prayed, "I wish it would rain - not so much for me, 'cuz I've seen it - but for my 7-year old."

You no longer associate bridges (or rivers) with water.

You eat hot chilies to cool your mouth off.

You can make instant sun tea.

You learn that a seat belt makes a pretty good branding iron.

The temperature drops below 95, you feel a bit chilly.

You discover that in July, it takes only 2 fingers to drive your car.

You discover that you can get a sunburn through your car window.

You notice that the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

Hot water now comes out of both taps.

It's noon in July, kids are on summer vacation, and not one person is out on the streets.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

You break a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m. before work.

No one would dream of putting vinyl upholstery in a car.

Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and get cooked to death?"

You feel like you are in the front of Billy's Boat catching 6 pounders in the hottest part of the day

Not me!! I spent the weekend at the beach!! 1st time i've rented a beach house since high school. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/glasses.gif Had a blast with the wife and kids and friends with twins. but I will tell ya that while I was at lake Geoge back in February that we saw 2 guys with similar type set ups allowing them to run up in the grass and fish with spoons. Couldn't get close enough to see how they had them rigged up but it was a cool idea. My partner said they were the three man seadoos. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Billy there is a jet ski just for you up by Ebenezer school. I t is an old one but the unique thing about it is it has an outboard motor on it http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif Yep I said an outboard! I think it is a 30 horse Johnson complete with steering wheel and everything you would need for a nice relaxing day on the river http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif

MAN, the river stage is 2.4 ft at Clyo...actually thought about going in the a.m. to try it out for a couple of hours before heading to work. Have any of you folks used the ramp there while the river stage is this low? Just curious to know if one side of the ramp is longer or if there is anything else that needs to be paid attention to while unloading/loading the big ole boat.

Todd stay close to the dock. When they built the ramp it extends out 35 feet but the side closer to the dock has less sand washed up on it from the natural spring just up the drive http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Talked to Doug Morgan yesterday. He said that him and Tim W. won the last open tx with 21lbs!!! He said 2nd had 18 and then quite a few 14-15lb sacks. Low water must be forcing them all out into the river... WHAT a day http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

You guys should see my pond now that we got 13 inches of rain today. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif I just got back from California and found both entrances to my house closed due to high water from the lakes overflowing. One whole side of the neighborhood is trapped without a really big truck. There are two lakes beside each other normally with a road between them. Now we have one big lake with 4 feet of water over the whole road. Water was up to my driveway and back deck. I walked..excuse me,,"waded out" out and literally caught a fish out of my neighbors back yard earlier.

heck as loow as I have heard the river is I am almost a little hesitant to go tear my boat up....I hear the main river between Tuckaseeking and just past Stokes is really dangerous with a tree or 2 in the MIDDLE of the river under water.. One thing is for sure, September 24 I will be in the river. It's terrible when your working so much that you have to plan time in advance to go fishin. These 12 and 15 hour days is starting to kick my butt. But, I am going for sure come hell or high water.

As for a trip, trying to get a cabin at the hill in October (19-21). I'm about to die to go. If all else fails, I'm pitchin a tent. One way or another, I'm goin http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
