Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Ky Z21)
On your last pic it is some baitfish. Notice the dark shadow to the right of them. They are suspended.
Nice photos for a rookie!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

This was on a hump on Ky Lake not sure what to make of it, I thought a rock pile but the height is what throws me

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Ky Z21)
Would need to see more photo's from different angles to tell. Depending on how wide it extends, it could be a pipeline, an old dam, a road bed, ridgeline, or most likely a spoils dump (gravel/rock), etc. Regardless, it is a raised piece of structure that would likely hold bass at one time or another.

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Ky Z21)
I got your email just hadn't responded yet. But yes I say it's some under water rip rap (rocks). And it not just a pile but a "wall" of it. From the SS it's long in length. I have a similar pic of the same thing here on the local river and I know it's rock.

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Ky Z21)
Why did you block out the map!! This looks like an old pond dam.

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Ky Z21)
If they are building tall rock piles on navigable water (like Kentucky Lake) with barge loads of rocks and no Hydraulic Project Approval permit, I don't think they can judge right from wrong...

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Marc Marcantonio)
On Ky/Barkley hitting one of these rockpiles would never come in to play, but theres plenty of other stuff to hit if not careful http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Ky Z21)
Few more from my tx today. As you can tell i wasnt catching fish so why not take screenshots. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
This river had historic floods last year and the trees along the banks fell in. This was just one of the many laying on the bottom.
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1282435796
The next two are one after the other. Looks to be like bunches of rocks and junk. The second one caught my eye as to the right of the centerline of boat looks to be either concrete stairs.

Here are a few screen shots for you from today. The bait fish was loaded on wind blown points today, but the bass just didn't seem to be schooled on there. Even so the weather was beautiful.
This first shot did have a small group of larger fish just beneath the baitfish.

This one was as I headed up a ledge. Big ball of baitfish.

Next is just how it can detail a laydown totally submerged. It appears on both side and downscan.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...hots/shot7.png
And some more balls of baitfish.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...hots/shot1.png
And possibly a school of crappie since it seems to have a stronger return than others.

And a few more

Hope you enjoy them and feel free to ask questions.
why is there white lines on the left side on your screen where the middle is, and the right is so clear ? mine does the same thing and I have mine mounted with scaps mount to my jackplate, is the lines from not having a hole shot plate ?

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (fishin couillon)
What causes the darkness on the right side of your shots? I see the same thing on mine and cannot figure out what the cause is.

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (DickD)
For one i had it set at 120' each side on 800 kHz. If i would have had it on 455 then it would have shown more underwater. The 800 will give you better definition but won't not as far and the 455 will go further but less definition. A rule of thumb is 120' +- or less use 800 and over 120' use 455.

WOW that's a crisp image! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
Do you always get returns like that? Or is it something to do with water clarity or the way it was transferred to the computer from the card?
Thanks,

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (ruski)
That is the way most of my displays look. I set the unit on 60% contrast give or take, but I believe the boat speed has a lot to do with it and a good set up on the LSS-1. I have the LSS-1 on my step pad and a Transducer Shield and Saver shield and wedge. I also have my units set to "Shallow Water". As long as I keep the boat moving at least a couple mph I get pretty crisp pictures.

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Sirius Rich)
Maybe this has been covered and I missed it, but, how are you guys getting these shots to the board. I have an HDS10 w/LSS and have recoreded files, looked at them in Sonar Log Viewer, but can't print them or figure out any other way to bring them to the web. How do you do it? Thanx

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (rango2000)
Screen capture while your fishing and then coping to sd card and then plug that into pc.
-
Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (bass boss)
Thanx. Any idea why I can't print my images from the Log Viewer program?

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (rango2000)
I haven't tried this but it may work. Run one of your logs via the simulator and use screen capture
-
Try this: Run Sonar Log Viewer, and whn the screen gets to a point where you would like the image, ( paused) hit "Print Screen" on your keyboard. Next open up MS Paint and click 'Paste' and you will get a screen captuer. You can then crop and save the image to something you can post on here.

My first images worth looking at.
Well, finally have something cool to look at. I passed by two fairly close old bridge pilings. These pilings are made of individual blocks of stone and are tapered towards the top. I drove closer to the right one, and the left one shows up really well, even see the individual blocks. I think that is a house foundation beside it as well and I never knew it was there. OH don't forget the tire too. LOL.
I LOVE my new side scan. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

Here's my 1st shot at posting pics from the HDS-7. Took my boat out to the river, & got my bearings with the unit. didn't spend a ton of time on the water, but got my settings the way I wanted them. Just need to spend more time on the water with it to get used to it.
For the experts, is it better to leave the sidescan on auto, or put it on a fixed depth?
-
Re: (randybenham)
Nice pic...with the setting at 800kHz i'd dial in the distance some more. Or if you leave it at what you have change it to 455kHz. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif Lots of seat time will help out alot...you almost have to leave the rods at home and go out with intentions of just playing around with the unit.

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (Fishton)
Fishton, going back to your original post, the last picture shows short vertical lines at regular intervals, this is obviously some sort of interference was causes it ? as I get the same interference when running LSS on my HDS8 in sonar.
any thoughts appreciated

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (kinrosed)
Fishton is no longer on here. But your talking about the vertical lines. Here is a post on it where everyone pretty much decided it was cause by the jackplate. http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=516570. Read the post and see if this situation applies you.

Re: Lowrance StructureScan and DownScan (fishin couillon)
Thanks for your reply fc, it is the short bluish lines over the white back ground in the last 2D sonar pic (that is almost like rain falling) that is my concern, I dont have the LSS white lines as described in the post. In my case the short lines can be turned on and off with the switched yellow lead.
I apologize for hijacking thread.

Yes, it's the part of a pound net that traps the fish. Us recreational fisherman would
like to see them removed from the (Potomac) river. But they do make interesting
screenshots.

Hey guys, new here. Awesome screen shots. Im having trouble putting my files onto a memory card. My hds won't read this card in the photo i can't copy anything on to it. What card should i be using?

Re: (Hooknlinehds)
That is a adapter sleeve for a micro sd card and it looks like the card is missing. The micro card slips into the sleeve. So you need to find a micro card or get a regular sd card.
-
LOL didn't even notice it was an adapter just opened it up and tossed it in. Makes complete sense now. Thanks for the help.
