He quit BASS and going strictly NPFL.
Matt has 17 years as an elite and zero wins. I may be in the minority but Matt leaving is no different than most guys in the mass MLF exodus. Lots of guys left for MLF that were just getting by.
There will never be a “The Cast” episode on guys who have 20 years on tour but don’t win.
Note: I’m a fan of bass fishing. This is in line with the same assessment I would give to a football player.
I can’t wait to hear Matt’s side , and he won’t have to hold back now ! He do well at NPFL and probaly enjoy it way more !
Matt Herren quits bass.
There were several times last year that Elite anglers complained about rule breaking and requested stiffer penalties. In the first tournament this year, BASS hands down a dq and the angler receiving the penalty quits. Was Herren one of the anglers calling for more discipline? As far as the Open's angler, he probably should have been given a dq, but different league / tournament director.
Obviously he knew he did something wrong by not reporting his son had gave him information where the tournament the week before was won. I hate it for him but it sounds like they are enforcing the rules. Does anyone know if this is the creek his friend Bill Lowen won the tournament in?
What a mess Bass started out with :thumbsdown1:
Mercer scolding Mckinney during the halftime show should send a message
Rumors are a guy name Scott is next ! Guess we will see soon
I haven’t seen a really good explanation of what the opens guy did. Josh Herren coming forward on here and laying out exactly what happened makes Matt’s case clear. But, regardless of what happened on the Opens level it’s clear that they had more leeway to be easier on him than the cut and dried elites rules.
I find it odd the first thing he did was cut the BASS stickers off the wrap instead of taking the FFS off. I wonder if his sponsors will make him work the Classic
The opens angler should have been DQ. Herron should have reported the instance before the polygraph end of story.
BASS is being run by inexperienced children
100%. At some point the organization is gonna have to start listening to the anglers input bc these people clearly don’t know how to operate a business. The BBC experts will come along shortly and say they’re “running a business and aren’t a charity organization”. Maybe that’s true, but they’re not very good at it, like at all.
He was irrelevant anyway. Technology passed him by so this is a great excuse to hang it up and go to the (mostly) technically challenged tour.
I wonder how Ray Scott would have handled a situation like this?
This is a new season is it not, first event of the year and last season people wanted rules followed so here we are. So much bs last year that BASS is obviously trying to clean up and now people upset about it. You can't make this shit up. Matt's own kid admitted here he told him where a tournament was just won on the st John's, pretty cut and dry he should have self reported. Each of the dudes running idle zones got penalized equally by losing time right? Where's the problem?
Preach Skeet Preach
B.A.S.S. will go on with or without him for sure, and I think there is a mix between some b.s. going on and the fact that these guys don’t want to learn FFS, and that’s fine. Matt will probably be better off where they don’t allow it and if B.A.S.S. continues to allow it they will have plenty of guys coming up that will want his spot. None of this will change until guys speak out. They say they are afraid of BASS and maybe so or is it that they all could flunk a lie detector test at some point? I don’t know the answer but it needs to get resolved.
