Haha, thought you'd like that :thumb up2:
Not to hi jack but I have a question. Does Auto Charts only work with the Lakemasters card? I assume it will not work with Navionics correct?. Thanks.
Autocharts creates a customized Lakemaster card with all the features of their normal charts.....except it is just your data.
You have to purchase the Autochart program and a Zero Lines Card. The Zero Lines Card becomes your custom Lakemaster card after you process your recordings and write the maps to it.
The Zero Line card has a bunch of these thingies:

That you turn into these thingies:

Ok. Now I think I understand. Thanks!!
mxmike,
Wayne described it accurately. You do not need a lakemaster card. Nor do you need any lakes to be previously surveyed in any way.
When you buy autocharts, it comes with an sd card that has millions of lake outlines, with no depth data (they refer to this as a 'zerolines sd card'). Essentially, any lake that you want to map, you have to be the one to survey the lake and take sonar recordings. In the computer program, you import those recordings, and the program converts those into your own customized lake map chip of the lakes you've surveyed. That data is yours to keep, or share, however you wish.
Hope that helps!
Double Post
It called cameron Lake in Ontario, it's the fourth lake (going east) from Lake Simcoe on the trent waterway.
Thank you very much for the info on this!! I'm going to try and attach a JEPG as well.

I will check this evening when I get home unless someone else beats me to it.
Doug, will does the Autochart use SI to actually help map, or is it just the 200khz sonar that it uses to build the map? I understand the overlay... just asking if I'm recording an area on my 1198 will the actual SI sonar be used to build the contours?
Looks like it's there to me!

OK over an hours worth of recordings recorded and when I got home nothing saved on the card. I made a recording of a oxbow lake then stopped recording traveled about 20 minutes to the next oxbow lake recorded it. Prior to shutting the boat and unit off I checked to see how much time had expired while recording. It was well over and hour. Pulled the boat out came home pulled the card and nothing on the card. I took the card back to the unit scrolled to where I done the recordings and it shows recording R0012 and R0013 on the screen but, nothing on the card. I don't remember saving the last time before I shut the unit off. AM I suppose to save?
All you should have to do is stop the recording.....This should close it out properly.
You should always shut the unit off with it's powers button.......but that is probably not the problem here.
I did shut it off with the power button. The idea of how this is suppose to work is great but, it hasn't worked as advertised for yet. I've had nothing but, problems. It takes a lot of time (money) to get out and make a recording. I have had so many problems I was very cautions and careful to make sure I was recording. This really makes me want to cuss this product. I wouldn't buy it again. Maybe its because I had both cards in at the same time?
James is right, if you had 2 cards in the unit, it will only write to one at a time.
Nothing on either card
I need to take my time next time. Be really sure of what I am doing. I am not going to let this thing beat me. It will be well worth it in the end. Hopefully everything I screw up and post on here will keep the next guy from making the same mistake.
The only other thing I can think of is what kind of card were you recording to? Best results are with a class 10 card.....I think Humminbird recommends the scandisk extreme, but some use other card brands with good results.
Did you use the Autochart program to examine the disk, or did you look at it with file explorer?
Brands and Types of cards make a difference in quality of performance and writing data. SanDisk is what I have the best success with. Will the unit play the recording back on the unit? Could be card reader on your computer too? I had card reader fail on my laptop and had to but a new SD Card Reader because my old one was not SDHC compatible.
I could have swore I stopped the recording prior to killin g the unit. Of course I haven't had the best of luck so far and most everything that has given me trouble was user error driven by lack of understanding. I would be willing to bet I did something wrong.
Ditto. Make sure to "Stop Recording" before shutting the unit off. I'm sure it's in their instructions somewhere, but I think I lost a recording by doing that one time also. Same thing goes for boat tracks, I like to save those before shuttting the unit off just to be safe.
K-DAWG, you might still be able to salvage those areas if you still have your boat track. Next time you go out, save your boat track, and it may contain depths for your boat runs. Not as good as a sonar recording, but better than nothing.
A tip on when I do recordings instead of one huge recording I start and stop to create smaller areas that way you don't lose everything if something would happen.
Thanks for getting back to me on that.
So what units will this work on? 899 or 999?
yes
Manager told me that there will be Auto Chart Pro programme in 2015. It won't be required of Zero Lines Map Card. What do you think about it?
What is the "zero line" card necessary for? A map of depths can be drawn anyway, even if there are not drawn banks of rivers on the map. So, the map can be created, but, will banks be seen on it? It seems to me, that outlines of reservoirs, which are drawn on the map, are not participated in a structure of the map of depths. This SD-card is used only for reproducing created card on Humminbird devices. That means, that there is only a picture of banks, without zero depths with co-ordinates. Am I right? So,I have got a question. Is Humminbird company going to produce AutoChart and it will not be attached to definite SD-card?
The onix has autochart built in, don't need zero lines card.
Can the Autochart data or map on the Onix be saved to use in Autochart externally to create a map on a SD card?........Or does that data only exist on the unit?
