Has anyone tried the bass pro shops version ? I can't believe someone hasn't mentioned that yet. They have a ton of good colors and the best part there is like 20 in a pack. Go check it out. They literally stuff the pack where they can barely close it.
I got barrels of used silca sand from our blast room, anybody custom pourer wanna work something out?
IF the "secret" to the Senko was silica the every backyard plastic pourer not to mention the big names, would be doing it. I've been with Yamamoto for 15 years and have yet to find any other bait that performs like it. I'll give you a little tip, instead of trying to figure out what "can" be copied, try to figure out what "can't" be copied. That's the key. Size, shape, length, color, salt content (or whatever you think they put in them) is pretty easy to copy. Do the knock-offs work? Sure they do. Are the knock-offs as good as the original? You, as the consumer make that choice. It's your hard earned $$ you are spending. All I can say is that "I" have never found a comprable bait to match it. I am encouraged by Yamamoto to try all of the knock-offs and give them feedback, if one is made, I haven't found it. In my years of giving shows seminars etc., I have found that there are Senko loyalists and Senko distractors. You are not going to convert either one to the others way of thinking. :laugh:
TOXIC, why did GY stop the junebug color? It is one of the most popular colors in every softbait imagineable. I like the action on the Senko, and in muddy water or night fishing, it's the color of my choice. Now I am forced to Strike King or Yum with not quite the results. I have tried the plum with the metalflake, which is about as close as I can see to junebug, but it's just not the same.

:confused2: They list 213 as "Junebug" Possibly you had a custom pour? GYCB does not change the established "named" colors, they will just re-name them. What I am saying is that "Junebug" has always been Junebug. Makes me think though, how hard would it be for an on-line retailer to "replace" GYCB with a knock off and charge more for them? Believe me if it can be done to a Senko, I've tried it or seen it, or heard of it!!:laugh: You can use heat shrink tubing on the top for Texas rigging or the middle for wacky rigging. I actually use a Gamakatsu Skip-Gap hook if I am getting a lot of small fish that normally destroy a Senko. It helps keep the top from shredding. :thumb up2: You can also try a hook with the screw lock type top for Texas rigging.Quote:

+1 on the heat shrink. I use it for wacky rigging, it's not perfect but works well for me.
It's not so much the salt.....it's that they are poured with very FINE silica sand. (Ashtray sand, sand blasting sand ...some call it) this is why they are spendy but also their main attribute ....hence the name SENKO. As in sink. That's why none of the knock offs have the same heft to them. (We reversed engineered them in the college lab)Quote:

He said that he didn't know if confidence in a bait caught more fish but he was absolutely sure that lack of confidence will keep you from catching fish.
