Patoka Lake: Saturday 6-16-07
Fished with fellow BBCr Mike Daleo from about 6:00 AM until about 1:00 PM.
Beautiful clear and cool morning with air temps hoovering around 60 as we launched. Warmed to upper 80's by the time we left with blue bird skies.
Water temp was 77 to 78 in the areas we fished.
Water clarity: Clear to very clear.
Water level is 1.5 feet below summer pool which seems a LOT lower than that after all of the higher lake levels of last year.
Action was slow but we did manage 3 keepers that would have weighed 9 pounds. We also caught several VERY small fish. Basically once the sun got up and the top water bite stopped the party was over. Also as always on Patoka this time of year, boat traffic was VERY heavy!!
The grass is there but still has not emerged all the way to the surface so you can work baits over the top.

Fished Patoka Thursday-Saturday. Water temp was 84.7. Thursday, a storm front came through and temps dropped the next two days. On Saturday morning it was 82.7. Water is stained, visibility, maybe down to 2 feet on average. Less in some places. Caught nice fish all three days, 2 or 3 each day. 3-4lbs. Fishing in water 10-15' deep. Weed beds are not as easy to find as usual, although there are some areas with good weed growth. Most fish came from standing timber. Some from humps.

Patoka Lake: Saturday 8-19-07
Fished with fellow BBCr Michael Hay (Crawfish) from about 5:30 AM until about 12:00 PM.
Beautiful morning with air temps hoovering around 65 as we launched with very little humidity. Warmed to mid 80's by the time we left. For the most part it was a partly cloudy morning with not a lot of direct sunlight. There was a gentle breeze and it was truly an awesome morning to be on the lake!
Water temp was a very cool 70 degrees when we began and I never saw it any warmer than 80, but we left fairly early. I found it hard to believe it was that cool, but we did have 2 cool nights in a row.
Water clarity: Clear.
Water level is really looking low, at least to me and it is almost 2 and 1/2 feet below summer pool.
Action was slow but we did manage 3 keepers that would have weighed a little over 9 pounds. This included one that was almost four pounds that absolutely pullled like it was a 10 pounder!!! We lost 3 others which looked to have been keepers so we should have had a limit and about 13 or 14 pounds. We didn't catch but one short fish so overall it was fairly slow but the ones that did hit were fairly good fish.
The grass is there but still has not emerged all the way to the surface so you can work baits over the top. For me, the grass is the key to most of the fish that I have caught at Patoka this year. We fished a lot of deeper water yesterday but came up empty. For the most part we fished the main lake.
Tight Lines!!

Sounds like a good trip John. That's kind of like the luck I had in July down there. Not many fish...but the ones I caught were fairly nice.

Good report John. I'm coming down there this Friday and Saturday for a tournament. I hope my spring spots will work now there was alot of grass on them then. We had 5 at 13.21lbs last spring.

Fished a tourney Saturday and I caught a 5lber and lost a 2 and a 3lber at the boat and my partner had a 3.35. We was going to weigh in early because the 5lber wasn't doing very good when my motor blew but we got a tow and weighed in with 8.35. We caught several 14 to just shy of 15 inchers most on tubes and wacky rigs.

Patoka Lake: Tuesday Sept. 4th, 2007
I fished Tuesday evening from about 6:00 PM until about 8:15 PM.
How can I best describe the weather???? How about HOT!!!!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Official high in Louisville that day was 98 degrees and it was every bit of that at Patoka! There was plenty of breeze though...when I put her up on plane!
Water temp was 85 degrees.
Water clarity: Clear.
Water was almost 3 feet below summer pool.
I had a pretty good afternoon catching 3 keepers.
I fished main lake areas and caught fish from about 15 feet to one that was close to 30 feet deep. Soft plastics and slow rolling spinner baits are what produced for me. There is still a lot of grass but I didn't fish around it on Tuesday, but it has held fish in it on other trips I have made this year.

Nice report John. Can't believe you didn't fish around that grass, but you obviously didn't need to. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
