I read that they bought Evinrude, for a measly 90 million dollars. They were going to manufacture a marine engine, and figured this would be better. Word was, they did it also, to keep somebody else from buying Evinrude.

If this country keeps bleeding jobs, they will not be selling much here. There are many products made in other countries, but I still watch what I buy. I dislike China with a passion, and one cannot totally get away from a lot of their stuff....but whenever possible, I do not buy Chinese stuff. Lot of fishing manufacturers went to China, but I ain't buying. Would rather buy from an ally in South Korea or somewhere, than to make an enemy rich. Been thinking about buying a smaller aluminum boat, with about a 40 hp on it for the grandkids to fish out of.... but it will not be an alumacraft. They have the right to produce wherever they want, and I have the right to not buy em.
2007 Alumacraft riveted tinner with 1000’s and 1000’s of miles on the lakes and roads getting to them and down gravel roads across fields down into coulees to launch and not one drop of water inside while fishing all day. Nuff said.
Dodger.
Build them in Mexico they’ll still be junk
I have an Alumacraft and love it. It’s pre BRP. I’ve seen a lot of complaints from recent purchase owners. Especially a lot of bad console problems. It’s sad that another really good company is moving over the border. BRP seems to just be an absolute mess.
I remember finding a build sheet in the 06 single cab Sierra I bought brand new. It was in Spanish and the truck was built in Mexico. Good truck but absolutely gutless with the 3.23 gears.
That is why collective bargaining is so important...Most contracts try to cover keeping work in the US as much as the company will give...It's part of what is being fought for with the current talks and I am sure it is one of the sticking points..Federal laws supporting the export of jobs doesnt make it an easy battle...Its all about money..
I've been hearing pretty solid talk that Polarkraft is closing down...They were bought out by Apex Marine.
There's a reason why our economy (GDP) is mostly service-based. It's 5x our industry output, versus China is roughly 50:50.
Cheap labor and little regulation is pretty hard to beat.
If you look at NAFTA and the follow up bills its blatantly obvious by the voting records in congress that it was a Bipartisan screwing...
Some day you guys will wake up and realize that this country is an Oligarchy and the party system is nothing more than lipstick on a pig....It's all about the money...
Why wouldn't we blame the companies??....If not them than whose fault is it they choose greed over ethics and choose 3rd world countries to build their products??...Of course the consumer shares a big chunk of the blame also..
Georgia is 11th in the country for highest poverty rate and near the bottom in other economic indicators...Why do citizens of your state continue to vote for the same ideologies??...We can play that game all day..
