what about screenshots? can they be savexdto the zlc as well?
I'm not sure yet. I know in the manual it states that whichever card that is installed in the unit first is the card that waypoints, routes, and tracks will be saved to. I will check this weekend and see if it saves the screenshots to the ZLC as well. My guess would be yes, but I have always had another SD card in the unit for screenshots and such while using AC Live.
The ZLC is a fully writable card, it has encrypted files, that can't be copied and if you accidentally delete them - it's all on you for "bricking" an expensive card that you'll learn the hard way not to nuke...LOL
I also wish the units had 3 cards, but if you're running a "dedicated" chart card and a ZLC the only choices you'd have would be not to save screen shots, swap cards or pay your money and take your chances.
A Nav or LM Card should always be locked (or set to read only) IMO and if you positively think you have to write to your ZLC don't crab to the world if you fry something!
I would recommend you use the standard garden variety class 10 SD Card, much safer and a lot cheaper if you hose that or lose it.
ONE MORE REASON to run multiple displays...
Quit using the kid gloves Robert ....
I guess I probably should have worded that a bit differently - you can probably back them up fine, but the encryption makes it so you can't just copy & paste the contents from the ZLC to another card and expect it to work.
As to which files are encrypted, I don't have a list - and I have not spent time trying to bootleg a copyrighted piece of software.
Hope that clears up my statement better.
Yes, if you could copy all of it - some people would be selling the copies for $30 a throw...  :embarassed:
Alright, so as long as you insert the ZLC in first before another card, screenshots save to the ZLC as well. As far as it eating up the memory, etc., you would have to save A LOT of screenshots and waypoints to use up memory on the ZLC. For starters, there is only about about 15 GB of free space on the ZLC. 14GB is used for the LKMASTER folder, which I would assume are the zero lines and such. The ACU files in the ACDATA folder are miniscule in size, so I don't think you will ever have to worry about filling up a ZLC with recorded data, which is quite shocking to me. Also, I have over 300 screenshots on one of my units, and it doesn't use up more than 80 MB of space. Recording all of the sonar data is what would really eat up the memory, as if you were going to take it over into AC or AC Pro. I wouldn't be using the ZLC for that, but you could as long as you move the files to your PC each trip.
There is a glitch with my unit too. It doesn't matter what the chart map card is set to in the menu at startup, the unit will default to whatever is in card slot 1. So, if LM is in slot 1 and the menu setting is ContourXD, it automatically shows up as the LM. You have to go to the menu and go to auto and then back to ContourXD to see the ContourXD. Same thing happens with the ZLC as well.
Is there any reason Lakemaster map in auto chart pro doesn't show the Missouri river like it does individual lakes. It looks like the a.c. live just fills in the lakes.. doesn't seem to the same with the river. Thanks
Probably because how much the riverbed can change in just 6 months ...?
Post pics.
The general course of the Missouri river has been the same for years. Not sure what you mean.
It should fill in fine once you start recording. I know what you mean though about the zero lines. They seem to be off when it comes to rivers, at least around me.
I am new to this board, but have been on other boards for some time. I own several humminbird units, most with dual slots. Which one is "slot 1"? i am currently using a Helix G2N on the bow, a 898 HD si on the console. I am planning on buying a chartselsct shortly. I do own a Auto Chart Pro. I know that my console unit is out dated but could hardly afford the Helix G2N. If I read this correctly I can record live on the front, then transfer to auto chart to display on the console unit.
Left card slot is slot 1. They may even be numbered on the outside.
I know what you mean. I live on the Coast of NC, just below the Va. border with lots of tidal creeks and rivers. Some of them quite large. However half of them are cut short or not even displayed. I bought Auto Chart pro so to record these creeks and rivers. But ran into the same problem.I read some place to do a kml on google Earth then transfer to AC. I fumbled the ball.
Hey Guys............
I haven't heard of many people talking about the new bottom hardness/density mapping feature added to Autochart Live.
Seems by now some people would have been trying it out? Any reviews on it yet? Or actual screen shots?
