Thanks Andre! Lots of good stuff in that video.
Those were good videos; but they are with outdated antiquated graphs.
Imagine how many views a new video using a gen3 and the super secretive tricky depth shading would get!:nanner:
Prostaff/Tommy, you need to erase a few PM's because your box is full. Its almost not fair for you to not share it with everybody else.:thumb up2:
I cleaned out the inbox last week so an incredible amount of good things going on...but getting to be too much for me to keep up.
Driven over 500 miles today and about the same last week and most of the weeks since January... Todays events including FANTASTIC Bass Pro Pyramid Memphis. What a cool place. Been there many times and it always makes me smile walking in. Amazing.
I have some major Marine electronics events and projects (some Prostaff, some personal) coming up now and consuming the next couple of months, including getting my boat in the water a LOT more often, so I will have even less time here.

Ok, my turn for a question.......got the navionics platinum plus card using it in a 10 Gen 2 and 7 Touch. I know the photo overlay and shading worked when i got the card. A guy in my club was asking me how to get it the photo overlay to show up and i told him it was pretty simple......well tonight, messing around with my units (both), i could not get either unit to show the photo overlay and/or the shading to work so i know it wasnt him not knowing how to turn it on........i have updated the card a few times since i bought it along with both units having the latest updates......Soooooo am i the only one having this issue or is there others?????
Yes, turned it up all the way....didnt help or should i say work....
First, toggle from clear cursor to restore then back to clear. Set your depth highlight ranges to a test setting of 15min-30 feet max, then adjust it. I suspect you have accidentally cleared your depth ranges to "0", in which case...your transparency does not know what to adjust or not.

Got to thinking about Sonar Charts and lake levels. My home lake has been up to 6' above normal pool earlier this year and they are now lowering it to as much as 3' below normal. That will be a 9' change in, say, 6 mos. When various peoples have been gathering and submitting sonar charts to Navionics during this period, does Navionics account for the lake level change? If not, it would seem a given contour line would not be consistent over the lake? Hope I am making sense. During one 2 year span the lake went from 13' low to 9' high. This would make an even more dramatic inconsistency if not taken into account when sonar data is incorporated into Sonar Charts. I spoke to Navionics Support but they really didn't have any answer, saying this was too detailed an inquiry for their level of support.
Over time with many uploaded sonar logs the "normal" lake level will be used for all contours.
A data point as the depth and GPS location, so as a particular location's depth changes, with enough data provided, there will be an average. Takes time to have an average---many years.
You keep providing the data at the same locations so that the average can happen sooner.
When I start Sonar Charts Live, it asks for the current lake level (offset). It's pretty much up to the person collecting the data to do so correctly. I have had sonar logs rejected on both Sonar Charts and Insight Genesis because there was to much of a discrepancy between my logs and other peoples previous logs. It sucks because I go to great lengths to get accurate data.
My lake has been down 20'- 28' the last several years and the water line on my Nav card shows that level. If my lake ever fills (doubtful at this point) then I'm going to have a borderline worthless card.
Tommy, did what you said, and still dont have the aerial image and "shading" on my unit.....i did a reset to unit and didnt work....i have some other AT5 aerials of local lakes which work correctly but just not working on Navionics. One thing to note is that i updated the whole card (community edits, sonar charts and standard maps). It was working prior not sure if that update of the standard maps changed or deleted something.
Can anyone tell me what file i could look for on card for shading or aerials to see if they are on my card??
Hey Jeremy, Just happened to see your message. If you still have my phone number, give me a call and we can step through this one setting at a time. I am working in office today, have a 12 on my desk and I can put in a Plat S card and walk thru this and see what we can do. T

If you own a Lowrance HDS Gen3 fishfinder/chartplotter display, you can now use it to create your own 1 ft HD bathymetry maps with SonarChart™ Live on the Navionics Boating app. With built-in GoFree wireless connectivity, depth data is streamed from your Gen3 to your mobile device!
SonarChart™ Live maps, which are drawn in real time on your phone or tablet, are a great tool for targeting fish-holding structure and for staying alert to changes in the seabed floor! SonarChart™ Live also offers the most efficient way to enhance SonarChart™ because sonar logs can be automatically uploaded to Navionics and you can monitor the improvements while navigating.
Just connect your mobile wirelessly to the Gen3 and launch the Navionics Boating app! Read the HDS Gen3 instructions.
I also have lost the shading and satellite function on my HDS 9 Touch, have tried all of the above suggestion to get it to work. I know it was working last month when I updated the card HMPTS6 Platinum. I have two Touch 9's linked together and it does not work on either one. Would it be a problem with the card or with the HDS units, also done soft boot and hard boot no luck. any help will be appreciated.
Skeeternuthead - have you only updates the cards or have you updated the Lowrance units as well?
I have updated the Navionics card twice since I discovered the shading and satellite overlays were not working, The HDS 9's were up dated when the latest updates were available for download. Does anyone no if the problem is associated with Navionics, Lowrance or both of them
Have you lost the shading on all lakes on the South card or just some lakes? Reason I ask is I no longer have shading on Toledo Bend or Sam Rayburn after updating, but have spot checked and still have shading/transparency on Choke Canyon, Guntersville, Fayette Country, Dardanelle, etc. I used to have it on TB and SR, but no longer after updating. Same results on 3 HDS units. I can take my unit and go to Bass Pro and their Platinum card works fine on TB/SR. I would imagine their card hasn't been updated. I can get preferred depth range on those 2 lakes to show up as white (and everything else blue) by turning Colored Seabed OFF.
Hello Bandit53 thanks for the info about it working at other lakes. Just got home and read your post and headed to the garage and your are correct I went to Choke Canyon and Falcon and the shading and satellite overlay works on those two lakes. Looks like an Navionics problem. will try to contact them tomorrow. If you hear anything let me know Thanks
Sorry Guys, was traveling pretty hard last week. This is a bit more technical for me but I sent this question off for review. Want to at least point you in the right direction.
Is there a video that goes over the shading features? Are you guys getting several color options with shading? Thanks
On some lakes I have up to 7 different colors, however, every lake is different and has different setups. Toledo Bend is totally different from Guntersville which is different from KY Lake or Lake Anna...so there is no accurate answer for that question.
For some setup info, go to my thread I did in March of 2014 "Navionics and shaded depth 2". that is pretty basic but will help some. But there are hundreds of different combinations of setups and every single increment change on one setting affects many others and totally changes the picture. If it is just a map the user wants, that is easy, well not really depending on fishing vs full navigation and in between.
This is a very valuable tool for different conditions, times of year, current vs non current lakes, deep vs shallow lakes, ledge lakes etc...Locating "productive" water vs non based on patterns, movements, paths, staging Yada, etc....That is a way different level of understanding of fishing patterns and customization of the maptool to guide the search setup. To be of max value you must customize it for your lake, conditions and what "you" want it to do within your knowledge of how the fish react to all of those changing criteria. It gets complicated. Navionics has recently asked me to do a video so I am thinking over at the moment how to condense a 2 hour seminar into a 5 minute video. Hummm

Available for Lowrance, SIMRAD, Humminbird, Raymarine and more!
Random question here, I am trying to figure out how to get the photo overlay and the shallow water imaging to show up on my hds 10 gen2, currently have a premium card.. I know how to turn the feature on but im assuming I need a platinum chip to show this feature...
The discontinued Premium card will not do those features. You need to get the Platinum Regional card for your area. Navionics.com has the info to help you find what you need. Only the Platinum will do the full customization of the mapping. Navionics+ cards are great for their purpose but also do not have the full custom features of the Platinum.
Check out my thread I did in March of 2014.."Navionics and shaded depth 2" , in the archives here. That will give you basic starting info to get you going.

Is there a way to use my premium card and update to the platinum with that purchase ?,
You can update to the Navionics+ card for $99 by using your Premium as the key to unlock the update. You will have a Navionics+ card when completed, not a Platinum. I would check with some board sponsors here for a price on the Platinum cards. I have nothing to do with anything retail so I am no help there, but a call to Three Rivers or BBG (there are others as well), may be worth the call when time to purchase.

Tommy,
i just bought a nav plat plus for my dad off of the boards. Dad says it is a full size as card and not a mini. He is trying to put it in a hds 12 gen 3. I have asked him if he is positive it's not an adaptor with the mini sd inside and he swears it's not. I believe it says s6 on the card. Is there anyway to put info on a mini to use or did I just waste a 100 bucks?
All of the newer cards have the micro card inserted. If it does not have that, then it is an older card, determined by what is printed on the label. I have never heard of any way to transfer the data on a standard SD to a micro. The Navionics card information is copyrighted data and cannot be copied and would not be legal to do so.
If it happens to be a much older card, the data will obviously be old also and out of date.
IF that is the case then I would just suggest you call one of the board sponsors and get a new card...OR...THE good news! Use that card as the key to the Navionics+ update card for $99. His new card will not be a Platinum card but your money will not have been wasted since by using that card and the $99 update...you can get a new regular priced $199 Nav +, and you are about even. AND, that new Nav+ will have the most updated data...free updates for one year. Navionics does about 2000 updates a day so he will always be current anytime he wants. Note you must register that card when you get it within 60 days (free) at Navionics.com to be able to get the free year of updates. At the end of the year, if he likes and wants to continue the daily update subscription, just resubscribe for $99 and good to go...If he does not, then the card stays exactly as it was on his last update and he can keep it as it is at no further cost.
One thing you should realize is that the Platinum + card and the Hotmaps Platinum card are two different cards for different purposes. Depending on location, available to you to research on Navionics.Com, I would highly suggest you make sure you are buying the correct card. Once opened they cannot be returned. The Platinum cards are regional so make sure to check that out before you buy. The Navionics+ card is good for all of the US and Canada. The Brand NEW Regional Navionics+ card is only $149 and is REGIONAL (same regions defined on the Hotmaps Platinum cards) but with the same features and benefits of the full USA card...but just for a region at a reduced price.
Hope that helps a little, If not, lots of guys here with good info and we all can clarify further if you need.

That is a South Region Hotmaps Platinum card that started in mid 2010. S6 means it is updateable, and is a microSD with a SD adapter.
To see the maps dates, put the card in your computer, click on the card drive, then click on the Navionic folder to see the maps dates.
It has to be 2015 or newer to have all the features discussed.
Edit to Tommy and Wayne,
i talked with with dad and said look in the bottom of the card... Brief silence and an "I'll be damned" on the other end of the phone. This is the micro, all is well. I apologize for wasting anyone's time, but I do appreciate some insight I received on this. Thanks fellas :beers:
Too Funny :))) That happens all the time...pretty much the same scenario and words every time it is discovered :) Glad that worked out and a little insight never hurts.

New question,
So I paid for the updates on the card, and downloaded the chart installer. When I click the option to download, it says my card is full. Do I need to use another card? I'm pretty sure if I format it, navionics won't recognize it. Need some help fellas
Did you check the card size to see if it is a 16 GB? If it is not, contact Navionics to get a replacement card.
Do NOT format that card.
Your Chart Installer selection should be UPDATE.
You download to add Sonar Charts maps that you select the locations to download.
It's an 8gig card
