Thats a clean lookin 400 scoutlover.
1996 400 TDC, 225 Venom, I purchased new, 25 preditor 4 blade prop, just replaced 5.5 plate with 8" and installed hydrulic steering and repalced the tilt tube bushings. Going home this afternoon to bleed the air form the steering. Was running 68-71(GPS) depending on load@6000RPM, 3.75 below pad. I have purchased a Bryans Foil that I may install after water testing the new plate. The best part of the Javelin, NO PAYMENTS. 1 new power head while under warranty, 1 rebuild 2 years ago. I had a wheel come off under speed, it appeared that the lug nut backed off??
Buzz I lost one at 90 and what happened is the bearings discentigrated and allows that wheel and hub to come off. I had a brand new set of bearrings have a failure on that trailer within 3000 miles... Its really not lack of maintainance it seems this was a problem with single axle trailers and these boats across the board.
Did 5k in damage before I ever fished out of her. Still came in 3rd with all the problems on the way to that tourney. I lost the steering rack, and lu on that trip.
Love my 409

Bass - Where did you find these trim extenders? I noticed today that I was missing one of the little brass (or whatever) bumper looking things located on the ends of my trim arms. It looks to be threaded where it broke at. Is this where they go? If so I need some quick. I'll have to dig the stud out now or take it to the boat docs for the operation. Thanks in advance!
What did you find out about trim extenders, I was told by Championman that the onley option was transom wedges for OMC. motors.
Chris nice color combo !! I like green boats and hopefully green will be back on boat makers color list again soon !!

Buzz I have not heard nothing yet dude nor can I find out anything. I was hoping Bass would share some of his knowledge with us. If I find out anything I'll post it here. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif

Heres some for the small block, are the big block motors different?
Thanks EP! That looks like it would work. Maybe someone else here with some experiance will chine in and tell us. I'm wondering how bad they will effect the holeshot? If we don't get anymore responses on them I'll have them ordered Monday morning for my rig. Thanks again for your input!
edited for update:
I've sent an email to the folks that have these. I'll post their response also. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
I dont think thell hurt hole shot any. I never ran extenders when i had my 400.
Ran a 26 raker @5950 rpm w- hydro plate trimed to3/4 on the guage and raised the plate till i had a 2ft rooster didnt have gps at the time but the speedo always read 74-76 by my self 73 loaded.
Only reason i can think that they wouldnt work is that maybe the bigger motors put more leverage on them and they they cant take the leverage http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eyes.gif

The way I understand the extenders add another 4 degrees of trim. With your trim all the way down you have added 4 degrees of positive trim that wasn't there. Seems like on a rig with a not so good hole shot this would render it worse? I don't know, we're still in the fine tuning mode now. It's coming together but slowly. The weather has been a little http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/cold1.gif to play.
I always trimmed down to 1/4 on the gauge without extenders and was fine.
your boat may be different though. Seemed like weight distribution was touchy on my boat. I tryed to keep most of the heavy gear towards the back.

....That's them...as long as they screw into the trim rams they will work on the larger motors. I don't think mine are that big, but I put some washers under them so they might extend that much.

....As was said, the hole shot will suffer if you had to trim all the way in to get out of the hole....

Well it's back to the drawing board. Anyone else have any idea where the trim extenders can be purchased? Thanks

....I got mine from someone on this site who makes them...If you know a place that welds, you can weld a piece of s/s onto the end of the buttons, make them like the picture, not more then 1/2" or they will roll off the ends of the ram when you trim full out and you will be way past the bracket....Or you might get a hit if you post a request for trim extenders on the JohnnyRude forum, that's where I got mine from...good luck
...Or......put some flat washers under the buttons....that will get a few more degrees of + trim..
Bass - ya remember who made yours? If I can't find some in the next few days I'll just go back to the original ones I guess. I put another prop on the boat yesterday and ready to wet test it. Thanks
