If you're scared of it, don't get on it. I doubt that there are many logs rocketting to the top in Ledbetter Creek or Blood River.
I had a buddy that lives just above Kenlake just tell me that there are people out there everywhere fishing right now.
Do you guys never get on a river? Get out there and live a little. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif </td></tr></table>
Well, that's prerogative..............but when the folks that get on the lake after knowingly told not to and get in trouble and the Coast Guard has to risk their equipment and possibly lives to come drag your butt to the bank....thats just plain stupid and a waste of valuable resources....... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
I talked to a guy, who talked to another guy, whos wife's first husband was in the Coast Guard but didn't know anything, so he called another guy who checked and said he heard that some other guy that knew what was going on had called channel 6 news and found out that 2 of their guys knew exactly for sure that someone had told them, that somewhere around noon today the Commander of the US Navy 6th Fleet had officially notified Homeland Defense that it was being reported that two 14 foot johboats were seen making big waves around the picnic tables at Moors resort. This is from the mouth of the horse that just won the Kentucky Derby, so I know it's got to be the truth.
http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif and its Homeland Security, not Defense....get the story straight!!!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

Looks like they are out there anyway running people off and patrolling so how is that a waste of resources?
I have been on the lake and aside from Rodney's errant logs (which I haven't personally seen but I haven't been out running the channel, either).. it ain't that bad. What's next.. shut it down to traffic every time that the wind gets over 20 mph?
The CG needs to get their act together and figure out whether the bays are legal or off limits. We have two conflicting reports here from within their organization. My buddy works for the state gov. and though he is prone to exaggeration.. I'm 100% certain that he spoke with them just like I posted here.

Dude the lake is obviously dangerous and they are making it off limits for a reason. Your the type of guy that we read about that got killed running down th elake and hitting a log. Its only a weekend were talking about here. Its not like they are closing the lake forever...... Man use your head and be safe. We don't want to read about you in the paper... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif
Have you been on Barkley, if you haven't then you don't know what you are talking about as far as logs, trash, docks and every thing else floating down the river. I have had customers come in all afternoon saying the same thing, we were run off the lake by the C.G. and they will be writeing tickets tomorrow they were told. They also say it's as bad as they have seen it as far as trash, logs and tolets floating down the river. I do agree with you on one thing they need to get their act together or maybe we should from all this hear say. What i saw yesterday was not hear say, never seen that before in 40 years of fishing on the lakes.
Unfortunately people like to insert their own interpretations on what they read and/or hear.....if you feel like you need to be out that there, be careful..... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
What would be unfortunate is if the authorities had to go out and risk their own lives to save some bonehead who decided he would brave the river. Daniel was telling me about two kayakers on green that decided to go out and try it, they are still looking for the one two days later. I hate it that this person may have lost their life, but now someone else is in danger to try and find them.

I agree Rick, i see he is from Murray, same town i live in, i guess he does not know me or he would know that i never lie about fishing ( hardely ever http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif ) or the lake conditions especially when it comes to running Ky Lake and Barkley in very rough conditions.
I received an answer to my email to the CG and also a CG Petty Officer came into the Cabin while I was there about an hour ago. The lakes are closed until further notice for any and all recreational traffic. They will be reevaluating the situation on Monday the 10th.
We don't have to like it, agree with it or whatever, it is the law now. Was informed that they are warning people today...tomorrow they will start writing tickets. The maximum fine is 32, 500 (not saying that is what they will fine you..but they can if they decide to, so if you go out and have an accident, guess who will be the example).
Thanks Dave, that is exactely what i was told except for the fine, wow 32500.00 for being stupid http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
$32,500....yikes!
I'd have to win a lot of afternoon Steam Plant tournaments to cover that. Think I'll stay on the bank.
Live stream from KenLake State Park - http://www.kentuckylake.tv/index.htm
Well of course the fine stated is the maximum. Probably be more like the tickets they have handed out to folks guiding here without a Captain's license...around 1,000.00 but they have the option. Kind of like the folks out there guiding still without a Captain's license...one of these days one of them will have an accident and they will be made and example of I am sure....government agencies have a way of doing that kind of thng now and then. Either way, it is not worth it.
I wish FLW would go ahead and make a decision on the AFS event next week. I'm supposed to be fishing it and if they aren't going to have it, I would like to be able to get a full refund on my hotel accomadations.
Rodney, I know who you are and I don't think that you are lying. Why you guys think that I would lie or don't have sense enough to poor piss out of a boot just because I don't have a bazillion posts on BBC, fish tournaments anymore or work at a dealership is beyond me.
I've been on the lake myself as well as several friends this week and have been in a lot worse things while duck hunting on the actual area rivers.. a lot worse. Heck, most of my coworkers live right on the water and are giving near hourly updates.
It may be bad out on the channel.. I don't know. I haven't been out there. I can tell you for fact that way down south in the secondary stuff and up in the embayments is not bad at all. People need to use a bit of discretion and common sense and quit relying on the government to do it for them.
Depending on who you talk to (and my buddy called one of the top CG kahunas and the man responsible for it, not just somebody in the CG), the bays and tributaries are not closed. According to the powers that be on this forum, they are.
So be it, I'm done.
Those that decide to go, catch a sack full and hopefully you won't get nabbed by "the man". Those that don't go, enjoy your weekend too.
(btw.. local radio is reporting exactly what I said.. bays are open)

Theres always someone who "aint skeered" and then we'll watch the news and see their family asking for help to find their family member.
The way I take it is the lake is CLOSED and I am not going to be the one who plays the GREY area and want to test the CG.
If you can afford the fine then go hit it and post a fishing report! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
if not then suck it up like the rest of us http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
