Well I figured I'd give an update. This boat is a blast to drive!!! I've had it out about a dozen times now and it gets better every time. I still have to wire the radio and do the carpet, but it's a running and fishing boat now and I love it. So far I've hit 57mph @5500 rpm. She JUMPS up on plane in seconds and scoots. Only hiccup I had was installing the steering in a manner so left was right and vice versa. That was awkward! The motor rebuild went perfect. I dont have any complete pics yet because without carpet on the cockpit floor or casting deck it looks ugly but the fish dont care. The only thing I think I may do is drop the motor down a notch. Right now the plate is level with the step up and it blows out easy in a turn. Since my lakes are 45 mph anyway, making it handle better is a larger concern than top speed.
Just wanted to tell everyone that its a boat again, because without these forums I never would have attempted the rebuild.
Now on to my next project. Just picked up a 20' Potter built Seacraft center console!! Bonus is that the floor and transom are already out so a lot of the itchy work is done.

Oh, and when I got this boat I thought I got a deal. After all this, I know I overpaid. But what I learned was worth the price. I got the seacraft and 3 lobsters for a third of the price of this boat because I knew what I was getting into this time.

Hey guys. An update on this one. I've completed everything. Carpet, wiring etc. I've been fishing it for a few years now and it's been a great boat. Since getting into ocean fishing, I have not used it more than once or twice a year for the last 2 years so it's for sale. I know some forums don't like links to craigslist ads. Is it safe to post my link here?
