A friend would never leave a friend. So a life choice leave a person standing hope you don’t need him for anything.
I have not left anyone but wished I had.
Never left anyone at the dock BUT. A couple of years ago as I was backing my boat in with my wife in it, She always drives it off the trailer ,and drives it on at loading time. As I backed in I got distracted, lost concentration, again, or some other brain fart. I didn't get out and unhook the boat, Yup I drove back to the parking lot with her and the boat still on the trailer. I still haven't heard the last of it.
I left one at the restaurant. He came in 45 minutes late. I had already eaten and was ready to leave. I let him order breakfast and when they set his plate in front of him I got up and said have a great day . He said are you going to wait for me to eat I said nope and walked out. Caught so many crappie that day I lost count.
I left someone once, kinda sorta an accident or it may have been a Freudian slip. I was getting the boat ready one afternoon to go fishing. My wife was talking to one of her friends on the phone and I guess mentioned what I was doing. She tells my wife her husband loves to fish. My wife tells her to tell her husband to hurry over before I leave.
Stranger shows up in driveway with rods and tackle box. After clearing up what happened I decide to take him fishing. I'm used to fishing by myself and I have a system. My Dad was the only person I took fishing and he knew to step back and let me do my thing. If my system gets out of whack I forget things.
Dude wouldn't shut up, kept saying he knew how to back a trailer, etc. I finally gave him the plug and told him to take care of that. We get out on the water to our first spot and I start noticing I'm in the air on the front and the back deck has a bit of standing water. I open a back hatch and the pump is going crazy and the back is taking on water. I tell him to sit down we're gonna "power out" some of the water. On the way back to the ramp I asked him multiple times if he really knew how to back a trailer, he assured me he did. I told him I was just slowing down for him to jump off to the courtesy dock and I was gonna ride around until he got backed in.
As things are going thru my head I realized he was in charge of the plug. I confirmed with him he took care of the plug, he responded with disdain "Yeah! It's right here in my pocket and safe!" I was livid! But also felt stupid trusting him with it. It takes him FOREVER to get the trailer backed down and I get on the trailer and let the water drain. I tell him to go sit on my tailgate and not say a word. After the boat drains, I slap the plug in and completely forgot about him.
I fish about 3 hrs and the cell service where I was is awful. I get back to the ramp, load the boat and get maybe 2 miles toward home and my phone goes crazy with texts and VMs. I had left him at the ramp. I found him about 4-5 miles down the road on my way home. He started walking to get a signal to call his wife to call my wife because he didn't have my number. Weird and silent ride back to my house. LOL!
His stuff was still on my boat while I fished and I walked around it, moved it out of my way and the thought that I'd left him on the ramp never crossed my mind.
I have never left anyone at the dock, but I often threaten to make my two teenage boys swim back to the dock when they start making a mess in my boat!
I skipped weigh in, threw back a limit and missed a Toyota championship bc I took my co straight to the dock and told him he had 3 seconds to be outa my boat once I got there or I would throw him out on the dock! Worst co experience I have ever had in 100's of tournaments. He was lucky he didn't get left 25 miles up the river bc I had already called the TD and told him it was a possibility! LOL!
Had a really good friend once walk down to the ramp to jump in the boat after parking the truck with a banana in his hand. I told him it wasn't coming aboard my boat. He asked if I was serious and I said yes. Throw it in the woods or eat it on the dock. He ate it right there while we awkwardly waited. Never look a guy in the eye while eating a banana.
Been left at the dock a couple times...............and left smart arse brother there a couple times on purpose. He gets quiet when wrapped around the axle.
If someone is fishing with me 95% of the time it’s my wife, so no.
