Production date of the Outboard was July of 2023 I believe - no its doesn't I got the letter and submitted info yesterday to have it mailed. Its an easy part to spot in pictures and I can't say that many of the new boats on dealers lots have this installed.
Folks- we're talking about a significant number of engines/letters, so they're not all going out on the same day/date.
Also remember: Mercury doesn't use "years". So it's likely that notifications are being sent based on the sequential (applicable) serial numbers.
Be patient- in the event you haven't received a letter by mid-January, contact your local dealer (or Mercury directly) for assistance.
Important: Your engine has to be registered, and the address on file has to be accurate.
Beings that the 250R & 300R racing engines had the same cowl will those be getting the recall letters for the insert grill also? I already got a warning letter from them stating to keep hands outa there.
I ordered my 300R in March 2023 and it was mounted in May 2023. I got my letter this week.

My letter was in the mail today!
Just found out about this today mines in the shop getting the fuel pump replaced. They said that they did the recall. I'll be removing mine looks like the fake vents you buy at autozone. Mercury could have come up with something better.
Does anyone know what the danger is exactly? Moving parts or just sharp edges?
They better put a guard on the propeller too, that has sharp edges as well. You know they got sued by some chucklehead with no common sense.
These are standard equipment on new product... actually look pretty good once installed, IMHO.
I received mine and will wait until a warmer day to install them. As stated I think they will improve the appearance once installed.
Post some pictures if you can.

I definitely wouldn't just "leave them off".
I don’t think they look bad myself? :confused2:
Got mine coming now I just need the V8 emblem.
Here is mine. Overall, I think it looks good.
