150 E TECH POWER HEAD

Well used the boat 3 times and the engine shuts down and check engine light comes on says something about emm uint

took the boat out when I got it back ran great then winterize it got it out in the spring of 2008 would only do 48 to 49 mph the second time I took it out it would only do 51mph took the boat to the dealer friday 25th and had it checked out said everything looks ok. and the 3rd time I took it out sunday the 27 the engine shuts down the check engine light came on and only let it run at 1000 rpms.New POWER HEAD.

Wow that's a bummer I have a 2009 etec 150 ho it has about 30 hr have put on it .

90% of my dealers installs are on bass boats and between himself the pros and BRP they have come to the conclusion that the motor to be set to dx 50 But to run dx100 you use a bit more. Another little bit of info is that these engines like a little bit of heat in them let them warm up....
last thing is once in a while winterize it a little extra oil goes along way.

I though a 150HO runs a double oil setting with XD100 anyway, and cannot be altered ?

I have a new 150 ho and factory setting is dx 100 but my installer was told by BRP to turn it to dx 50 and still run dx 100 for the HO . Its running great for the HO so I think it only makes since it would work on the none Ho model. It only run double oil for the "computer controled break-in period.

My 150 bought in March 2006 blew two power heads, One at 18 hours and then after another 15 hours. Both replaced in just a few days. Same cylinder both times. I had been running XD100 on XD100 setting. After the second one was replaced BRP set up for the XD50 rate and gave me a case of XD50. Also gave me a smaller pitch prop to get the RPM up to 5300 or so from 5100 or so.
Now have around 180 hours in just over three years with the last one. Still running strong. No problems found at the 3 years maintenance.
