I wonder if this is related to the lawsuit?
Looks like the clearvu is dropping 50/77/200????
More discounting on echomap units. Im guessing the new models will be announced soon. Id bet the board sponsors have similar deals going.

Garmin has removed the MRP requirement on most of their echomap CHIRP units and lowered pricing. The CV52HW is the replacement for the GT52. Slight less depth range than the GT52 from what Garmin told me.
Brian
How you doing Brian? Im still loving my Garmin setup!! :D
So... this is a new transducer and not just a re-labeled GT52? Do you know if they are changing other transducers too (all the GT series?) and will all the specs change similarly or any other info you can pass along?
Larry,
I am only aware of the change for the GT52HW to the Clear View (CV52HW) There are some slight design changes I believe but maybe Todd D. can expand on that and let us know if any other ducers will be affected.
Brian
they changed several transducers by turning the downvu element slightly. downvu results are unchanged due to the change
here is a new gt51 box

What happened to DownVü? Does ClearVü/CV replace it?
ClearVü is the new name for the fishfinder presentation that was previously called DownVü, and CV refers to the new transducer design offered by Garmin. ClearVü technology replaces DownVü and though the technologies are similar, when paired with a CV transducer, ClearVü will provide a wider image than DownVü.
I have an existing product with DownVü. Do I have ClearVü now too?
The functionality provided by your Garmin transducer will not change. ClearVü will replace the DownVü feature on existing products after a software update is installed.
Does ClearVü offer the same functionality that DownVü offered? Is it better?
For combo units that include a transducer in the box, ClearVü transducers offer a wider view of what’s under the boat. This wider view will provide more detail of fish and structure beneath the water, but is more limited in depth performance.
I’m a current customer, why did my DownVü change to ClearVü?
With so many scanning sonar technologies available in the market today, this change is being made in an effort to further differentiate Garmin technology from our competitors.
Thanks Todd, but Im still unclear on some of the details.
1) When you say "wider view" what exactly is wider? Are the beam widths different front to back or side to side or both?
2) I also dont quite see how you can get more detail with a wider beam angle in either direction. How can that possibly work? Wider beam angles make for less detail, not more - or so I have always understood.
3) Is the Clearvu part of the newest software up-date or is it still to come out in the future?
4) Will this new software effect my existing GT51m-TM (or any other pre-CV transducers) that I bought last January or will it still have the same specs/performance as before?
After the last update to my 7610 I saw the word ClearVu somewhere in the menu. Used it today. Didn't see any difference.
ClearVu sounds like something to do with the lawsuit with Lowrance about Down View.
bottom line.. CV models are included with striker and echomap units. these are the ones affected by the law suit with navico. GT models are sold separately
Well I broke down and ordered one from Hodges Marine, Looking forward to installing it!
Here is the transducer that I recieved with my new 93SV EchoChirp. I am happy to get this one instead of the ClearVu.

Got the same one last Friday.
