Re: Last Ride... (Blue Steel)
JMO But with the technology that exhists today. The new sterling should have been developed equal too or less than the weight of the 2200. A lot of engeering went into design and function and comfort. But the one thing that was overlooked was weight.
21' 10 bullet dc = 1375lb and is avaliable in a comp
2200 DC= 1650
22 sterling = 1950 I think
It's not all about top speed either. What about cost of use. Towing a 2000lb sled consumes more fuel as does operating it. May not matter to some folks but it does to me.
The speed will come with less weight. And with the new pad it would be even more efficient with less weight.
If it were 1500 or even equal to the 2200 you would have a 90 mph boat with a 250.
Who could argue with that. Everyone would be jumping ship to have the best looking and overall performing machine on the water. Sales are probably good now but could've been much better.

Congrats that 2100 is a sexy beast for sure!!

Re: Last Ride... (TheDuke)
Didnt realize they were that heavy. My 21' 2" BasSport Pro is about 1300 lbs.
If you ask me, thats testament to the engineering that went into the Gambler/Sterling hull design as I dont believe any other brand pushing that much weight can match the performance! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
Re: Last Ride... (RobShaw1)
Ive had several gamblers, but what does the SR 71 stand for??
Re: Last Ride... (Black Haze)
SR-71 Blackbird was a mach 3+ Air Force jet. If you google it, it was an amazing looking aircraft. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
Re: Last Ride... (RobShaw1)
Lol....ok i thought it was something like that.....Thank...
Re: Last Ride... (Matt Mc)
I'm sure i'm not the only person on here that has picked up on this, but i've noticed you have two type of "PERFORMANCE" boat owners....
A) the guy who competively fishes tournaments and wants a really nice boat, that FISHES well, TAKES rough water well, and GETs alot of looks, and while skint back on blast-off passes 95% of his competitors on say a 5-15 mile run...
B) the guy who loves to fish/run 90mph on smooth weekday water and when he does fish COMPETIVELY "never quite finds a chance to really straighten that thing out!"...LOL, "same old excuse"...
Now dont get me wrong...i'm not trying to start a "peeing" contest about who's got the biggest boat, but for the style of fishing that I/your "A" type boat owners do, I've got ALL i want...
GAMBLUR MAN i believe it was said it best the other day...and i'd like it correct it a bit...
"a gambler is like a modern day muscle car, say a CORVETTE"...
"your bullets/strokers/allisons would be like your modern day NOS-sprayed SUBURA WRX"...
the corvette is always gonna look badass with its sexy curves, comfortable-butt grabbing stitched leather, and its V8 growl; but a SPRAYED WRX will flat out smoke it on the STREET day in/day out...
why, you say????
its lighter, and has the exact same HP but with ALL WHEEL DRIVE...simple science says its going to OUT-PERFORM the more LUXURIOUS, SEXY apponent of the AMERICAN MUSCLE.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif

Re: Last Ride... (mickey2520)
Congrats on the sale man... As long as your getting a new rig doesn't matter what brand you ought to be over the old boat pretty soon http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif You'll feel better when your on a waitng list for a rig that I'm sure is gonna look http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/pimp2.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/pimp2.gif
And Low slung cruiser my boat ain't no rice burner,,, its built by a good ole country boy just like the ZR1 vettes are in about the same part of the country. Stick with the Gambler being the sporty caddillac thats just not as fast but has very fine detail and luxury.

Re: Last Ride... (BasinDawg)
Wasn't trying to start a war or hijack a thread. I was just stating facts and my opinion based on the facts. From someone else's comments.
Gamblers are great boats and are my 2nd choice. ( would have been my first)
I was sick in my gut for weeks after selling mine.
I still miss not seeing it in my shop. They are a fine work of art.
Analogy with a import is wrong. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sick.gif
So far the this thing hasn't let me down on the weekend rough water either. And I can do it faster and consume less fuel to lake and on the lake. Might not be as sexy but it ain't bad either.
More like a caddy CTSv vs. a ZR1.
Faster than average sporty bling. Vs. near supercar status.
I have a dream my friends and it is that mr chub Bryant would be asked to use the sterling mold to build the ultimate sterling. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif would be 1400/1500 lb of awesomeness.

I have to completely disagree here with you Low Slung Cruiser on everything from the analogy, the comparison between boats, and their owners, and then just everything between the A AND B of who, what, and why people fish tournaments. I say that because I take offense to some of those statements.
I am every bit your proclaimed "A" type tournament fisherman. I, however, do like speed, and a boat that will do everything you have mentioned above. But the Gambler is not the only high performance hull that will do that. The Gambler I once owned was a wonderful boat, and did everything I wanted to when the time called for it. I chose to make a move to a different brand just because of personal preference...but to comment and say that guys who like boats like allys, Strokers, or Bullets, are just fair weather fisherman and only go with the water is smooth is as the old folks say "hog wash"....
Its get turned into a peeing contest when you make claims like that. You almost sound like a lot the Ranger and Champion guys who say their boats are the best and bash other brands.
Also-- the ally and stroker hulls are faster/more fuel efficient than the hulls on a Gambler... not everything is hydro teched or modded. Some things are just better in different categories based on fact and not solely on opinion.
Stroker/Ally- ZR1 (hands down)
Gambler- CTS-V Coupe-- Very Fitting by the way
Bullet- Corvette Z06-- equally fitting...
To each his own... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
