So I took her down to Delta for break in. Only put couple of hours on her. But it was a funny experience at the ramp... The point is that I've never had a boat this large and the last boat I owned was 15 years ago and it was ~12-13ft jon boat. So, you can imagine my struggles with navigating damn 10ft narrow ramp lines at Lauritzen and loading & unloading this 21ft-er by myself for the 1st time ever
Most folks at the ramp has a queasy looks on their faces clearly saying: "This jerk bought a fancy boat, a fancy car and can't even load or unload the boat properly and it takes him 5 mins to get trailer in the water"
So past this (well deserved) embarrassment I managed to get on the water w/o scratches or major delays and was immediately hit with another predicament: !@#$ traffic & some wind on the delta on this Labor Day weekend. I mean I need to run the motor at 4000+ RPM which mean ~45-50MPH all through constant 1-2ft waves with 3-5ft every quarter mile from those yacht cruisers. I've aired a dozens of times and got a pretty good lessons in navigating 3-5ft waves safely and got into what seemed like 6-8ft waves couple of times (had to stop completely for those rollers coming in and took some water in on one).
Couple of other "funny" facts (as someone asked in another thread) from my first couple of days:
- Launch the boat with transom saver in... had to dip into the water and remove it on the water.
- Frozen for a minute on why the motor won't start... just to discover I was still in gear.
- Load the boat w/motor still trimmed down... only escape the skag scratch by 5-6in.
Anyhow - I'm learning my z521C every day and she's an impressive fit of boat engineering.
Boy, what's not to like about that boat. Absolutely love the color scheme!!!!!
Hope you black holds up better than mine. My 06 if very faded.
nice looking rig
Sweet Rig, congrats!
Nice enjoy.
Awesome looking rig!
Very nice read and so true.Lord help us if the other 3 boat forums you mentioned come on here and read this lol.......
Am I mistaken or do the boat rims and your Benz rims match? :thumb up2: Bonus points for that. My rig is black as well. Keep it sealed (you should have already done that) and a good coat of wax over it and you'll be golden.
