This is how I store my tackle and only load into the boat the tackle trays I need for the trip. I store soft plastics in the plastic boxes shown on the right side of the organizer and make up trip boxes for the particular area I am fishing. I split my time about equally between large clear lakes and river and slough backwater and this combined with the time of the year results in about 3 trip boxes that are always loaded with the appropriate plastics. This makes loading for a trip quick and it keeps the boat organized. I hate searching through tackle boxes and bags for lures. You will also notice that I have designed a rod storage system that allows me to store them 3 deep. I can store 24 rods in the short space shown. I used to use the commercially available wall racks but I always ran out of wall before I ran out of rods.
