+1, would it have been better if he kicked his Humminbird graph and cussed a lot?! I liked seeing that, he poured his heart and body into that week and that is what is called the agony of defeat. I thought it was a little classless for it to be shown on tv...others have done it I guarantee you.
BTW, anyone else get the idea Edwin Evers is gettin cocky?!

Agree with the majority. Nothing wrong at all. Some people just let it out differently. Lot of pressure, hard work, hope, dreams, and expectations over that 72 hours and who knows what is going on in his personal life. Doesn't mean anything more than he gave it all he had, may have thought he had it and when he realized he didnt, the weight of he moment came crashing down.

Nothing wrong with it at all. I don't think it is because he lost, I think it comes down to all that you run you mind and body through during the whole week. You manage to hold things together but when its over you realize what you just wen through.

I don't think most of us could ever understand the emotions and what was going on in his mind. I'm glad they showed it, shows he is human like all of us. It is very sad some of you would put him down for it. I've seen winners and losers cry...at least they are man enough to show emotion, and not too proud to be human.

+1. I'll be happy to admit that there are times where emotions get the best of me and I drop some tears. Being a man doesn't mean you cant cry dude.

He had so much happening in his life, I'm surprised he held back as long as he did. You are aware that he almost didn't make the season because his wife had lost her job and he was financially unable to compete. It wasn't until the day of, or the day before fees were due that she got a call for a new job. They had a new baby and lastly, he was only fishing the biggest tournament of his life. His emotions got the best of him. It is not a big deal to cry the guy was in contention to win the classic. The classic makes some of the anglers do some silly stuff because they want to win so bad.
You got to love the Timmy Horton jumpsuit!

trying to land a fish before it is time can be disastrous. they had lots of clips run of a guy who tried to land a five pounder on day 1 and pulled the crankbait lose and lost it. it killed his confidence the rest of the tourney. lots of those guys make judgements on how to land a fish based on how it is hooked and if it is going to be thrashing like crazy when they try to land it. they use a lot of caution in these events because mishandling a landing can cost you the tourney.

Can you imagine being so close to the thing you have dreamed of your whole life and having it slip away at the last moment. ive cried a few times in those situation most recently when my hs football team lost in the state semis i cried my arse off. I did see kieth poche go up to him and give him the old pat on the butt and i thought that was pretty cool of him to do he looks like a class act.

Tell ya what. Give up your job to give pro fishing one last shot...claw and climb your way up the ranks and make it the Classic (something I bet most all of us have dreamed about at one point or another in our life). Put your whole heart and soul into making your childhood dream come true only to fall short by a couple pounds. Im sure GV feels like that be his only shot.....and he just missed it. Walk a mile in his shoes before you judge him. Oh yeah and the way I was raised....REAL men arent afraid to cry!!!

Great analogy. My son just went through the same thing when his high school basketball team lost in the state tournaments. When you put your entire focus behind something and fail it's an emotional thing to some.
