John, posts like this inspire me. I'm only 12 days into quitting. One reason I quit was I was getting tired of sucking wind climbing these hills here. The bike is certainly a well deserved treat after 30 days of effort. Keep it up! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

Congrats guys on ditching' the smokes. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif Keep up the good work.
I'm 49 and have never smoked...I know being around a smoker will trigger a migraine headache... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sick.gif

I don't have the smoking issue but I really need to start exercising. I just can't get motivated when I leave its dark and when I get home at night its dark http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif Maybe closer to spring it will get easier.

Thanks for the support on the quit and thanks for the rod link!
I bought a Specialized Sirrus Sport and added what I wanted. I can carry my D90, fishing gear, etc... in the quick release bag which doubles as a back pack.
It weighs 24 pounds, not a light weight nor am I.

Both of us will use it on the trainer. Amye rode it tonight after I lowered the seat for her.

Congrats John--7 or 8 years for me--I don't remember the day I started on the patch. Did Amye quit?

She wants to quit Dave. She is not ready. I know first hand there is no sense in saying a word about it. When she is ready she will do it. Times like this weekend when everyone was sitting around having a great time drinking margaritas with a smoke were a little tough but I was stronger than the nicotine addiction. I didn't start until late in life...still would love a good cigar today. Maybe one day can go back to one a year or so but not anytime soon. Last time I had one I had stopped for almost eight months and one turned into two, then three, you know how that goes.

You've got a rear rack on there, rigging a rod holder is easy. Look up how the side bags hook onto a rack. I cut a piece of plywood and mounted it in a similar method using stretch cord, and secured four sections of PVC pipe to the plywood.
For the more intense trips, I do have a trailer that can hold ice chest, tackle box, folding chairs, net........

Congratulations John.
That's a perfect bike for getting fitness and exercise and having fun!!! Great trainer too. (one of the best personally). Keep up the good work. Making a habit of it is the hardest part. Once the habit is there it is easy. Hopefully this will inspire at least one more person to quit and start riding?
As for a rod holder. Like mentioned a piece of PVC tubing attached to the side of the rack facing up and backwards and on the non drive side (kind of like an antenna). Have some sort of bungee system to keep the rod in there, simple and easy.

Congrats John. Let us know when you're ready to ride in the Tour De France... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif Pretty sweet rod holder in the link below. Just bolts onto your existing frame bolts.
