Iams,EUukanuba, Science diet and anything else you can get at Wal-mart are all terrible foods. Go to the website posted above (www.dogfoodanalysis.com) or http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com and do some reading. Corn is not an acceptable dog food. I did a ton of research before we bought our Vizsla last month. We are feeding Blue Wilderness puppy because it can be bought locally but I'd say Orijen and Evo are the best foods on the market. 4health at Tractor supply is a pretty good food at a fair price if the ones above are too pricey.

Enhance is a great food for a working dog. Once I switched to this from IAMS I could tell the difference in my dog (Weim).
My dog is a Shepperd and she is not real active. She spends most of her time inside because we are not home much due to 3 job schedules. We've had her on Meijer brand food (dry) just becasue of the price, but the more I think about it, it has lots of fillers and is likely not very good for her.
I buy the cheap cans of Pedigree for our Rat Terrier. She eats one can a day and has yet to complain in 8 years. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

We feed ours Taste of the Wild. It is totally grain free, and has been great for our two dogs (Golden Retriever and Westie).
we have a young german shepherd and used to feed her the diamond naturals which was good food for the price then we switched her to the taste of the wild, she loves it and has helped her coat a lot, it is a little cheaper than the blue foods but is still great food, they are both available at our tractor supply.
We use Merrick...my lab is a finicky eater (go figure) and he will gobble this down and vet says it is good for him
Feed our too dogs a brand called Orijen. They have a better pep in their step and my older dog does struggle to get up the stair anymore. His joint pains are gone!
Holistic dog foods are the best...no grains, no fillers, no by-products, and NO corn/wheat gluten. Spend some time perusing this website: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com
I disagree with what said about science diet. My dogs, all 10 of em, do very well on science diet. I learned the benefits of science diet after feeding my first weimaraner pedigree and watching her balloon up to about 110 lbs. We put her on prescription science diet rd, and the stuff works well. Got her back down to good weight then she was on mature the rest of her life. Right now I got three differant types of science diet being fed, puppy, adult, and mature. Our vets say our dogs are as healthy as anyones in town, plus with science diet, shedding is less, and waste is less which with 10 dogs, is a good thing. We have looked at blue buffalo, but it cost almost twice as much as the science diet. By products going by the wedsite mentioned list things not reccomended for human consumption, were not feeding people dry dog food. Were feeding dogs a good dry food that gives them what they need, and keeps them healthy....
I think it depends on what the dog does best on,,,we had a great Dane that ate purina one and he had a healthy 11 years( awesome for a giant breed),,, now we have a English bull terrier that has allergy issues and is allergic to chicken, pork, corn, wheat and lots of other non food stuff so his food is mostly trout or salmon with rice foods quite expensive too(not to mention his fish breath)lol

Science Diet is an ok dog food but there are many other brands that are better if you're looking for the best.
I agree there are better foods out there but for me and all my critters, science diet, fillers or no fillers, works and works well. If I had to go to another food it would be the blue buffalo stuff but with so many to feed I don't see it happening unless somebody else buys it for me...
Yeah, could get a bit expensive....how many critters do you have? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/glasses.gif
Blue Buffalo weight maintence type dry and Avoderm canned...
Used Canidae, too...great food, but my pups gained too much weight and I felt bad about cutting them waaaay back....
Well let's see, we have....
3 cockers.....2 females and 1 male
2 weinies..both females.... long haired and a short...
2 weimaraners....1 male and 1 female
1 mutt that looks like a lab...female
1 mutt that looks like a doberman....female
1 mutt that looks like a feist...female on loan from my sister cause she had to move...
All these dogs stay inside.
And one female wirehaired mutt that was dropped of 2 Christmas' ago and stays on the front porch....
We have no kids and treat our dogs as such. I know we are crazy for having that many but if I had more room id have 10 more...

we feed either cainadae or chicken soup for the dog lovers soul. Been using the chicken soup lately because we can get it local. </td></tr></table>
This link that cubswin posted here will give you the best reviews I've seen anywhere. It lists all the ingredients for each of the brands and gives a pro's and cons assessment for those who don't know what to really look for in a quality dog food. Meat based foods without added grains or very little grains are the best foods but they are also very expensive and hard to find sometimes. We feed the Innova Evo Turkey and Chicken formula for the meat content but we mix it with a little Pedigree. Like I said its expensive. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
