If there is no rule against it what can you do.
If someone called you with the same info what would you do? I might just take that info and make a run! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif

In my club, I fish against my dad and 2 of my uncles. I'll call each of them during a TX or they will call me. Mostly just ask what the other has, no real info swap. I dont see any harm in that.
I guess it would piss me off if I ever found out about it. But that would be an almost impossible rule to enforce in a team tourney. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif
Should the other tx fishermen be pissed at the second place boat and you for giving them the bait they placed second with? You said that you had just given them the bait. It sounds to me you may be just as guilty.
Yes it would piss me off. Yes it is ethicly wrong IMO. But if was not in the rules then nothing can be done about it. I would make dang sure the rule would be addressed before the next tourny and changed for the next season. I would make sure the club added a rule about; No gaining info about fishing with the use of a cell phone during tourny hours. Every circut around here has a rule like that in writing.
http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/mad.gif I don't tell my brother in law what I'm using when we are in a tournament together.!!!!!!!!!! Ooops, he's in the same boat with me. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif But I still don't tell him, let him find out for himself! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

I can understand the frustration with the LACK of THAT RULE. Like others have said, the only thing to do is try to get the rule added to your club.
Sounds kinda whiney to me. Now you know how those of us who don't have Xray scan finders feel.
What if the tx winners saw the striper guys landing bass through binoculars? Would you then be vying for a ban on visual distance aids?
Some of you guys get all bent over this junk. It was the same with auto racing when I was involved...ban the use of intercooler cooling devices because I don't have one, and my driving skill is better overall.
Next thing ya know, there will be clubs banning talking with old geesers at the dock on practice day.
In the end, you didn't practice enough, or just plain got skunked. It happens to everyone...even Saint Kevin.
One club I am in passed a NO CELL PHONE USE (that means calls and text) rule unless breakdown or med emergency because a father and son in diff boats were calling a couple times a day to combine info and help each other (I was told by more than 1 guy).
We generally fish for $200-250 for 1st but it got to a few top guys and they let it be known it was unfair...I had no clue because I am so focused on the bass I rarely even look around much when boats pass, etc...just naturally assumed all were solo info like me and most all others. Now I hear in another club they are texting what they have at maybe 8am if doing well...and responding to texts...so another can of worms in another club.
Cell phone controls are sticky and tough so once again its trust at the bottom of the issue...we can't all have a cameraman witness...so teams seem best or co-angler setup...I fish solo...my style is not co-angler friendly...power guy moving fast and often in an area where mud ticklers dominate the lakes.
There must be a half dozen ways to help or share info during an event with phones...but I think some rue, thoughtfully and carefully written, is about all a group can do these days...and that may only stop half of abuse or slow down those insecure in their ability. Good luck with that....

No, I practiced enough. Both of these guys had been out of town for the week previous to this tournament. Just to watch your efforts go down the drain with a phone call kinda sucks. By the way, second place was a friend of mine that I had just given a bait and he actually beat me with that bait! You won't hear me belly aching about that, as he beat us fair and square. Guess I'm starting to see how some folks really are, huh? I myself like winning with my own efforts and knowledge, much more rewarding than the money.

So if the striper fisherman had called you instead of the other guy, you wouldn't have fished there because you didn't find them? http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
I would quit fishing, sell my boat, and sit at home and watch "Beaches" with my wife.......... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eyes.gif
It does suck seen this happen at the club level ... mabe bring it up to make it a rule in the future .... good luck ....
if there are no rules in place against phones calls and getting info like that, you have no complaint then. It seems to me that everyday someone has a story like this about some thing that happens at their club tournament......how the hell do you guys find so many ways to take the fun out of fishing? I got out of tx fishing because of all the whining and bitching over nothing years ago.

Your way off topic here....
thats pretty sorry on their part, i'd mention it to the tournament director, and let it go. but i'd also say it better not happen again, before i was through venting to the tournamanr director.

yep.............Sounds right & covers it http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif

It must be durn tough to fish with your drawers always wadded up all the time like that. I try to avoid any and all confrontations with tournament anglers that want to fish where I'm fishing don't want to be responsible for causing someone to have a heart attack, Fellow Bass club members are another good reason not to fish clubbers.</td></tr></table>
This hit the nail on the head.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif
i hate it when things pizz me off...
I wonder if the guys that beat you used an A rig to catch them schoolers?? That might be double cheatin.... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
If there is a rule stating it's a no no I would have a problem with it. If there is no rule existing , oh well. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/USA1.gif
As long as rules weren't broken there is nothing to be "pizz"ed about. not sure what was unethical about it either? it isn't a rule and you are fishing for $$$ i assume in a tournament, if it was me i would have gone and fished their also if it isn't against the rules. when money is on the line i'm going to try to get every advantage i can over someone else within the set rules. not sure what is unethical about not breaking a rule.
