Re: HOLY....... (RangerRodney)
If they leave the grass alone it could become a norm. I caught a ton of shorts. Had been on better fish the last two days and where they went I have no ideal. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eyes.gif If you remember back in the mid 90's the weights where unreal. It still blows my mind the day Mike Terry caught 38 lbs 14 oz. And for all you guys who think you have to run to Paris. They where caught north of the 68 bridge. Good days are coming. Or are they here?
And by the way I heard he caught them on a long point on jerk baits. Quit fishing at noon because he got tired of throwing back 5 pounders. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/bows.gif

Thank you sir!
The jerkbait bite was HOT!!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/eek.gif
My partner and I were south of Paris on mainlake flats. Areas where it would go from 10 - 12ft up to about 3 ft deep on top, with some grass on top. The fish were scattered all over the flat, so you basically just fan casted the area until you made contact. It was a blast. Caught fish all day, and it was a good time. I caught all of mine on a jerkbait, and one on a shad rap. My boater did a one-two punch with a rattletrap and a jig....rather than following him with the same thing, I just stuck with the jerkbait all day and it paid off. 14 lbs. 14 oz. The water temp where we were at was 48 degrees and pretty much clear.
The guy that won it was culling 5 lb fish by noon, all on a jerkbait. He told his co-angler, "there they are", go and get'em! He certainly did what he was told! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
The boater that came in second (Ron Peckenpaugh of Louisville) is a good friend that I drew out once two years ago, and we've been in touch ever since. He caught all of his fish on jerkbaits, just covering lots of water, south of the 68-80 bridge. I was very happy to see him have a good day! I learned a lot from him about jerkbait fishing a couple years ago http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif
I think the biggest fish of the tournament was around 8lbs and something....it was definitely a great day on the lake Saturday! It was even better once the rain stopped!!! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif
Re: HOLY....... (artcarney_agr)
I fished South Barkley Saturday and had 4 that went around 14-15 lbs. Caught on jerkbait and crankbaits on channel swing bend banks and secondary points. Sunday caught a lot of fish with only 1 3 lber and had a good one pull off on a cankbait. We had 51 degree water temps, went a little north to Donaldson and had 47 degrees. It was a good time, wish I would have figured out the flat fish though.

You're definitely right about that, I'd hate to tangle with him in a brawl! http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif He had a boat that equally matched him - a Champion 210 - that was the second Champion I've rode in, and I was pretty well impressed. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/wink.gif It made my boat seem really small when compared to it...
He certainly knew that south end well. He blew over a few spots that I thought for sure we were going to drag bottom, but we didn't. He knew exactly where to go and where not to. I was impressed. Definitely one of the nicer boaters that I've drawn out. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/smile.gif
Re: HOLY....... (artcarney_agr)
Thought i'd jump in on this too. My dad and I went to Paris last Saturday and we had a great day as well. We caught fish on crankbaits and lipless cranks with our 5 best weighing 27 1/2lbs! Our two biggest was 7lb 5oz and 7lb 12oz. We weighed our fish in at Paris on a local bass club's scales. Wish we were fishing a tournament that day, just fun fishing...
I put the pictures of the two big bass on my club's website. http://www.mcbassclub.com
Also posted my fishing report from that day on my website forum.

Your boater dude won a sportsman last year I think, I remember his face.
Re: HOLY....... (artcarney_agr)
Scott, you are correct. I have known Bobby for years and he is a great guy and a great fisherman. BTW great catch. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
