Ok a weird thing happend yesterday and I have know idea what to make of it.
After researching the price of a new ECU ($1800) from Evinrude I decided to once again pull off the ECU myself and send it to DFI. Went to the boat with a friend who suggested that we try something first before taking off the part. He said lets spray "tri-flow" a lub/water displacement type product on the connections and pull apart any electric fitting, spray inside then push them back together.
I said sure why not thinking this is a comlete waste of time and you guessed it the motor started right up. We raced it around, turned it off and started it again several times and now it seems fine.
This thing was dead the other day, no spark, period after several minutes of turning it over. Like a dope I actually put my finger in a spark plug wire to comfirm this so there was no spark that day. Any ideas on if I can trust this motor? I know ECU do NOT fix themselves so what happend? Could it have been mosture or a connection on some fitting? Anyone have this happen?
In any event I'll try and start it again today and if it works I will just except it as a mirical!
