man that sucks - sorry to see that happen after all that work
Did not want this to fall off until I fix the transom so BUMP
So Electric, you gonna redo the trany ? You got so much good work done, I'd keep it too, lol
http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/crying.gif After you put all that work into it. Fix that baby. http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emthup.gif
Yes, I am going to replace the transom. I know the boat will not sink and will get me back to the ramp even when it is 3/4 submereged and dragging an anchor http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif .
Will start late Feb. or early March and should be done by the end of April.

Deffinately want pics on it!!!!! Your transom is VERY close to my 76 basscat, so I'll be able to learn from you, lol I called ECO-TUFF and talked to them And they have an Industrial version of the stuff you used on the front deck. Spent about an hour with them and can get the stuff to redo the bottom of my hull for about 250.00 and does not require a Gelcoat finish. It will be hard as nails when applied and can add color to what I need, lol. Thanx for the info.

Eco-Tuff Is great stuff. I attended an 8 hour class held by the president and inventor of the company. I will also be using their products to refinish my floors in the house and possibly countertops. I have the industrial stuff with the rubber particulat on my decks and boxes, it is tuff. I had to grind with a wire wheel and really lay into it to get my transducer epoxied in. It is also comfortable on bare feet but not so good on reels and poles.
I will be using their aqua coating for my livewell and trailer.
Good stuff http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif

It is all original.
To do this right I need to pull the top cap and it is really more work, time and money than I want to spend. Considering just parting out what I have and starting over. The only thing that has me holding on is the Allison hull cause when this thing ran it ran great, very smooth ride even with a bad transom. Good lord I cannot make up my mind http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/doh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/praying.gif http://xs-s.com/zf/images/smile/emhammer.gif
One thing is that if you do pop the cap and redo all of it you know what you have. If you buy another used glass boat there is not real way of knowing what the structure on the inside looks like. It is a personal call though.
Just a few thoughts , from what I see on these boards , even buying a boat that is fairly new does not guarantee that there isn't some hidden damage.Your boat is a real head turner because of the age and the work you have done..I would stick with this one and pull the cap if you have too....You obviously have the know-how to complete this..
I seriously about cried as I scrolled to your transom.
Best of luck. I wouldn't even know where to begin.
I think I found the Allison twin to your boat:

I have this exact same boat in metalflake blue. I am planning to pop the cap and redo it all because It has a lot of rot. I am thinking of replacing all the wood with Cloroplast. I also plan to upgrade to more modern parts and electronics. I currently have a 1976 85 horse Johnson Javalin on it. It runs good but needs to be tuned.... 12 miles of river uses 5 gallons of gas.
Have you popped the cap on yours yet? I spoke to the man at Ranger who originally built my boat and he told me they were never intended to be split. I will have a lot of glass work to do to get it back together.
My friends keep telling me to get a new boat but they don't make hulls like this anymore and I like it. It rides smooth even in rough water. And besides its all paid for. A couple of grand and a few months in the garage http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/popcorn.gif will be better than a new $30,000 dollar boat. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boardstuff2/beers.gif
