Look online at Academy Sports, their house brand BCG are quite nice. The campus training shorts are what I like for lounging around the house and chore time. Low shipping minimums also with Academy.
I pretty much just wear gym or basketball shorts around the house… out in public, I’ll wear cargo shorts.. I don’t care if they’re not in style anymore.. better than skinny jeans or too short shorts… Fishing, i don’t really do shorts anymore because of the whole sun thing nowadays… I wear the long pants made of the spf stuff like the fishing shirts.. light and breathable, no sunburn..
I bought a couple pair of Travis Matthew brand. They’re made for golf but I wear them for everything. Very comfortable.

The youth of today have popularized short shorts. I hate the current style. Went to Walmart and found some wrangler that I'm not afraid of my nuts falling out of when I sit down.

You’re wearing Huk shorts and you think they’re cheap? Damn I really am poor, I get mine from Walmart $8.98 a pair, and cut the netting out of them. $40+ for shorts is mind boggling, that’s only a 1/4 of a pair of pants.
Try the truewerk t1 shorts. They are lightweight and made for work so they last a long time. Good length. Not shorty shorts but not too long.
I got a bunch of the surfer shorts when I worked in Honolulu. Comfortable and dry quick. I can NOT wear cotton or any type of denim like material in hot weather. Have a pair of flamingo ones that are my favorite.
