Well, I know just enough about electronics to probably get myself in trouble, (I do possess a 1st Class FCC License tho) but in all the electronics classes I've taken I've never seen where a Battery can cause an Electrical "Spike". A battery is only a "Storage" not a "Creator". An electrical spike can only be caused by a Charger of some sort, be it a battery charger or generator/alternator. I'd look to the alternator first and then the PowerPole charger.

I just sent back a 4 year old 125 for repair. It is possible for them to go bad.
My 125ah has been great for the last 3 years. I did have a small issue with one of my 50ah and Ionic’s customer service took care of it and was pleasant to work with.
What is the process to send an ionic battery back? Can you share their customer service number? Thanks
Been running Ionic for 3-4 years and never an issue (tap the wood). My only issues I’ve ever had all went back to the dang PP Charge charger. It drove me nuts for a few months. Sometimes I’d get full re charge and sometimes not. Ultimately, yanked that thing and replaced it with a $450 Minn Kota and no more problems. I also had a Powerhouse lithium for my electronics that developed a bad cell after a couple of years but they were great to deal with and replaced the battery in 2 days. Also, support guys at Ionic have always been great to work with when I had questions. Hate the original poster had such a bad and expensive experience due to one bad item but unfortunately that’s how manufacturing goes. There’s just going to be a bad apple here and there even in the best of conditions.

Well, guys you can keep making your snide comments if that makes you feel better but the facts are... two cases of spiking voltage which caused significant ($) damage to electrical hardware on bass boat. Troubleshooting with techs (Me - Mercury Marine) and the other guy as well (Motor and PP) point to battery and did not reveal any other cause. AGM battery back in and no issues. As a student of stats right now, that's all I'm going to say. Take the facts as you will. Good luck.
