I had a 150 opti on a Ranger 178VS, and my buddy had one on his 2012 Nitro Z7, and they are great reliable motors. And with only 60 hrs that sounds like a good deal.

The resale on a 2 stroke now is less than the 4 strokes. Not sure how long you plan on keeping it but but in the next few years, I expect the 2S resale to drop significantly. I've had Johnson, Evinrude, Yamaha, and a Merc Pro XS 250 2 strokes. I've had my current 250 Pro XS 4 stroke for 5 seasons now and I would never go back to a 2S. I suspect most Merc 4 stroke owners would say the same. If this is your forever boat it probably doesn't matter but if you want to sell it in the future I would think twice.
The reality is the 150 two stroke performs better on this boat than the 4 stroke does. These boats do fine with a 150, if you like the boat I would not hesitate to buy it. I have two raptors and tournament fish all the time with a partner and have never struggled getting on plane or running mid 50's loaded down.
$27K is a good deal. especially with decent electronics. it will run 50-54 and fishes like a champ. My son ran the same boat for 5 years. I have the 2016 518C with 200. no way would i take any where close to $27K for it.
If you like the boat and the motor(maybe an issue with the horsepower), check with a few companies that specialize in boosting horsepower in mercury engines. There are few around that do this with great results with. Check to see what they can do and at what cost, and go from there. This is not a job for a local mechanic. Be sure to use someone who specializes in this type of work. So if you buy this boat and it fit your needs-great. If not then perhaps the upgrade in HP may solve the issue. I would prefer the two stroke over the four stroke for reasons mentioned in the above comments.
I own a 2022 518 and love the boat but mine has a 200 on it and I defiantly wouldn't want a 150 on it I would pass on it because of the 150.
Don't worry about a 2 stroke. Mine is bullet proof. At 60 hrs i am sure the merc has lots of life left. Just make sure you get an experienced and possibly a certified mechanic to look it over before purchasing. You won't be disappointed. Also see if there is some negotiation wiggle room. You might get her for a little less.
Keep in mind the opti is a very complicated design. Parts are very expensive and people who know how to work on them is getting harder to find. Most in my area won’t touch them. Most won’t take a trade for it
I’m ok with that. I don’t listen to your reply’s anyway. Just letting the op know. Had 2 opti’s. Never own a merc again
Merc built the Optimax for something like 17-18 years. Tons of parts available, and just about every Merc technician will work on them. Lack of parts and maintenance statements are just nonsense.
Nothing was said about parts being available or not. Said parts are very expensive. Very expensive
ditto I love 2 strokes
