If I had to move back to the High Plains and had the choice of where to go, it would be Lubbock. However spending the first 42 years of my life up there, I'm not in that big of hurry to go back ... http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif I'm reminded of what I don't miss every time we get a strong west wind.
Re: Midland Odessa area (JD#5)
Just left a job down there. Coming from S.E. Kansas where we actually have trees, water, and rain I found it nearly unbearable. Lots of jobs down there though, and most of the people I met where really nice folks.
As for moving down there, I would rather jump off a cliff then ever go back but that is entirely my opinion http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/roll.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

Come on Bill,,probably felt like 114 to you. Yesterdays high in Odessa was 105. It was 106 here in Breckenridge. Got to do your outside work before noon when it's like this.. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sweating.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/sweating.gif

Re: Midland Odessa area (Tx Champ)
If I didn't have two girls waiting for me in Abilene I would not be leaving West Texas. I'm 35 minutes from Midland and 1hr from Odessa. One thing bad about Abilene is there isn't a decent boat dealership close for me. Right now it sucks with the drought and water situation. If we don't get rain soon M/O will be hurting in a big way.

Why do you think the Apache and Comanche indians were so fierce? You had to be one mean tough SOB to make it out there in those days. Anything that grows in the dirt has thorns and anything that lives off the land will bite the crap out of you, possibly kill you. But yeah, other than that it isn't bad when the wind isn't blowing sand across the road at 60 mph. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Seriously, I think the biggest thing any community has going for it or against it is the people. Abilene doesn't have a lot to offer, but most of the people are nice and will help you out if they can. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/thumbsup2.gif Boston looks like a beautiful place, but wouldn't live there based on a few people that I have met from that area, well, that and the Charlie Moore show. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif

You got that right!! And is doesn't matter what brand you are looking at!! Although I think you can get your bug worked on in San Angelo. Buddy has had some good things to say about them, but I haven't been there myself.
Re: Midland Odessa area (Stompy)
Where we were was showing 114. Also our vehicle temp gauge was showing the same. Spoke with another guy and his vehicle temp gauge was showing 113.

Well, the official temp from the NWS was 105 for yesterday. Always hotter on the pavement.

Re: Midland Odessa area (Tx Champ)
Trish and I actually had a good time while in Odessa.
Re: Midland Odessa area (bgibson53)
Ive been here for 40yrs now and yes sometimes I wonder why I'm still here till I go on vacation to places where there is something to look at nicer than a bigazz mesquite tree but then I'm either freezing my azz off or the humidity of these other places is dissolving it. When I get back home I'm happy to be home. Housing is a lot cheaper in Odessa than Midland but Midland is cleaner unless you live in the outskirts of Odessa lots of communties popping up like weeds. In Odessa look north of Yukon east of Loop 338 east and you will find a very nice home a great price. Stay away from west and south Odessa. In Midland just look anywhere outside of Loop 250 and its all good. Northwest Midland is great if you got the bucks. Or like Jeff said Greenwood is ok as well. Goodluck and give us a holler if you make it down here I'll be glad to meet you and point you in the right direction.
Re: Midland Odessa area (LuckyMesscun)
its a good place to live, little dry right now but itll rain one of these days. Id move to Andrews if I were you though.....we have more water than midland/odessa http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/Laugh.gif
Re: Midland Odessa area (FlukenLizard)
Andrews is actually high on the list. I like smaller towns. Seems as though land is gonna be hard to aquire, 10 acres and above anyways http://www.bassboatcentral.com/smileys/ohwell.gif
Re: Midland Odessa area (JD#5)
JD who is the job with? Chances are some of us may know them if its in the o&g industry. If you move to Drewsy you can get a better home for cheaper too, Midland is high and Odessa is not much better. Let us know if we can help bro!
Re: Midland Odessa area (Bitman)
