I agree, a boat getting close coming off of plane to motor by then getting back on plane is a far bigger disturbance than just running by on plane.

I would too but just not as close as G passed the camera boat if he had slowed down ahead of time instead of doing hand signals and idled through those boats there wouldn’t have been a problem with safety or excessive wake.
G was having a good tournament and he could have been in contention for the win sure thought it was his year.
I know what my reaction would be if someone, anyone, passed me that close when I had the TM down. Dick move.
Wait for it.......wait for it.....
Agreed, much rather have them pass on plane. Had one guy recently, fishing the pads about 15ft from the bank, in a river aprox 100 yards wide, give me the old "hands up" guesture as I went by him on plane, at least 70 yards away from him heading down the opposite bank. I was like really...whatever dude.
On the flip side, had a guy blow by me in a no wake zone on the same river... probably 70 ft across this point, overtook me on the left... really suprised me for sure. There is a long floating dock where an on the water resteraunt is/used to be (they closed during Covid, not sure if they are ever going to open back up. But there is a coming soon sign there so maybe). Anyway, the floating docks and docking structure, even a ramp are all still there, as is the no wake zone. Also right next to a road bridge with odd angled cement pilings, so it's really prudent to not be flying through there regardless. I guess they figure since the resteraunt isn't open anymore, they can just blast on through. :confused2:
They made the correct call on Swindles DQ. That’s just plain reckless and dumb on Gerald’s part.
Initially I didn’t think he had done anything guys haven’t been doing forever. Then with a little more research, looks the area he fished is technically the “North Toledo Bend Wild Life Management Area” listed by Texas Parks and Wildlife as “Adjacent” to Toledo Bend. So the “leaving tournament waters wasn’t about the damn jump in my opinion…but he left Toledo Bend proper.
Description
The North Toledo Bend WMA has 3,650 acres and is located in Shelby County, adjacent to Toledo Bend Reservoir. The WMA is managed under a license agreement with the Sabine River Authority of Texas.

Poche cried about it. Swindell pointed it out. Not sure if Swindell threw hissy fit. If he did, hypocritical. If he didnt I see nothing wrong with what he did.
What he fished in was all part of Toledo Bend, guess I will have to post the pictures again.

My buddy was driving the other boat with a camera guy. Howell didn't wave him to pass in between them.
Don’t make more of it than it is. Amazing what people are digging up, with a little bit of controversy lately, and adding gasoline to an ash tray fire. Randy actually waved at him and it was accepted as a go around and because of a complaint he was DQ’d. Randy H was fine with it. It definitely looked worse than it was on video and Gerald was gut wrenched.
Gerald is a very solid person and while he’s opinionated, so be it. If you haven’t followed him we suggest catching January’s (2023) NPAA Conference seminar. It gives insight to the man most don’t have. He’s more than a Facebook and YouTube personality. He earned the AOY a and he’s earned his way in fishing.
