I don't think anyone is trying to manipulate the public. The interface no doubt cost resources to develop and it's a great marketing opportunity. I'm sure Lowrance and Garmin had the opportunity to win the partnership and BASS contracted with the highest bidder, simple as.
I like the coverage and I'm glad to see it! FFS isn't going away, this allows us to see how it's utilized by pros. I for one love to see the technological advancements in our sport and can only laugh at the neo-Luddites who think its use in professional tournaments should be banned.
The A-rig is banned but staring at live at literally every tournament, Sure absolutely allowed. The irony in this shit is mind blowing. I was pro live for a long time till I realized how much its changing fishing.
Local trails 100% changed when FFS came out. A bunch of different guys now catching and winning.
I think the technology is really good but I’ve noticed that for many BFL tournaments in this area it’s getting difficult to find a guarantee non boater to fish. Use to be bed fishing tournaments was bad for co-anglers because of the boater sitting in one place now it seems that “live scoping” is causing a similar issue with co-anglers having to fish in one area while the boater fishes one spot.
I agree with this sentiment, but reach a different conclusion - it's absolutely stupid that the a-rig is banned, full stop. Nothing should be banned for being "too effective". In its day, the buzzbait was considered by many to be "too effective" also. Fishing has always been changing, such is the way of the world. The guys who can't adapt aren't winning anymore; sounds like they need to get on board, or else be confined to the annals of successful tournament angling.
Live bait is pretty clearly in a different category (the game is catching bass with artificial lures). Asking why this is banned is the same as asking why catfish or gar don't count.
250hp limit likely has a basis in obtaining insurance for events, safety, or some other rational foundation; whether that basis is valid or invalid is probably something BASS has or will explore at some point.
I agree that the ban on Accuview is arbitrary; I disagree that the existence of one (or more) arbitrary ban(s) provides a reasonable basis for others.
